When camera was invented, hardly anyone would have thought that in the future it will be so prevalent that people will be addicted to it. Even if the camera has a long history and only a single person cannot be credited for its invention and development. It gradually evolved step by step by many different persons with the time. And today the equipment has grown at such level that now it becomes a necessity in our everyday lives. The need is such that if we are buying a phone, our focus first goes on its camera quality. Nowadays, camera has become an integral part of every mobile phone. Especially the front camera that has made the world crazy. ‘Selfie’ commonly known for taking our own photo is a new discovery of this front camera by which no one is untouched in today’s life, weather he may be a prominent figure of any country or a common man. Everyone looks like the lover of selfie especially today’s younger generation looks more crazy towards it. Even, they risk their lives for clicking a good selfie. However, selfie mania is beginning to turn into mental illness. People are losing their lives in trying to take dangerous selfies. Last year, 27 people died around the world while clicking selfie and it is a matter of regret that about half of these deaths occurred in India itself. Selfie is becoming a mental disorder. The disease is named as selfitis. Psychologists believe that individuals who lack self-confidence and want to identify themselves clicks more selfies to alleviate their loneliness. They also post the snaps online for getting some likes and comments. Clicking selfie is not a bad habit but people should exercise some self-control over it.
