Freedom of press has consistently met with onslaughts and gags in varied forms. To withstand such hardships and march forward is a matter of amazing accomplishment and professional pride. Afternoon Voice and is proud team of editors and sub-editors, reporters and correspondents, lens men and cartoonists, printers and technicians, right up to the newsboy who delivers the daily, who all have contributed directly or indirectly, very richly deserve all the accolades in scripting the success story.
The reach of newspapers in society has grown enormously. The functions that a news daily can perform with benefits to society include: dishing out credible information, the educational inputs and effectively playing the watchdog role. To put it forthrightly the tabloid has been practising journalism of high calibre, rooted in well-defined core values, clear-sighted, professionally sound, responsive to the needs of readers within the publication parameters, willing to be flexible with changing technology and times. I have always had great admiration for the Fourth Estate professionals, for they constantly strive to do fearless and creative assignments, unmindful of the time and danger, in order to meet deadlines. The proof of the pudding is in its eating. From the depth of my heart, I again, wish the publication the very best in marching towards bigger landmarks like silver jubilee, golden jubilee….
