Any battle between India and Pakistan draws lot of interest but hockey between arch rivals brings the best out of both nations as India won the Asian Champions trophy in style by having the better of their opponent in a closely fought game at Kuantan, Malaysia. It’s an incredible performance from our boys considering we were facing injury issues and also for the fact that our team beat Pakistan in the league stage as well.
Indians showed glimpses of old glory but a lot of work is still needed to topple the top teams in the world. We have the talent but the facilities and encouragement is missing. Our government and sporting bodies need to pump in funds as international exposure, top coaches, world class astro turf apart from money inducement is needed to boost Indian hockey to reach the top. Well played Team India and thank you for the Diwali treat as we all love to see Pakistan defeat be it at the borders or on the sporting arena!
