Irrigation scam 94 reopened

With BJP Government taking up the mantle, the equations are changing thick and fast. The Maharashtra cabinet met and scrapped 94 tenders of irrigation projects worth Rs.6000 crore on the ground that they are under scanner in connection with a multi-crore irrigation scam. The scrapping of tenders comes as a huge blow to Ajit Pawar, who allegedly approved these projects by tweaking rules without seeking clearance from the Governing Council of Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation. These tenders were invited during the previous Congress-National Congress party Government. During the coalition of 15 year rule, NCP leaders Ajit Pawar and his deputy Sunil Takare held the lucrative water resources portfolio and made easy money. By opening up the Pandora’s Box, the BJP government is trying its best to unearth all the scams happened during the previous regime.
