Thane District Co-operative Housing Societies Federation has submitted a memorandum to Thane collector raising the issue about 75 buildings in Kalwa area facing difficulty in obtaining deemed conveyance.

Federation Sitaram Rane told district Collector Mahendra Kalyankar at a meeting that nearly 75 structures in Rabale, built on MIDC land after acquisition, have Occupation Certificate (OC) from the civic corporation but are facing problems in getting deemed conveyance.

Grant of Deemed Conveyance arms housing societies, buildings with title rights to the land on which the building is developed.

Rane said they have been paying civic and gram panchayat taxes but Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) claims the plots as its property and urged the Collector to look into the matter.

Kalyankar assured the representatives that he would try to resolve the issue with the help of the MIDC CEO at the earliest.

He also said that since the introduction of deemed conveyance in the state, of 28,000 cases, only 2,303 have been resolved, which reflects a slow progress.

This year only, he said only 13 proposals (of deemed conveyance) were cleared in the district, while 103 are still pending.

He asked Housing Federation and the Deputy Registrar to resolve issues faced by housing societies and organise workshop for the same.
