In another twist to Jiah Khan’s suicide case, her mother, Rabia Amin filed a fresh petition in Bombay High Court against CBI’s report which declared her daughter’s death as suicide and not a murder.
The fresh petition has been sought to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the high court and also provide means where in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would assist this SIT as Jiah was an US citizen. The CBI had filed a report in December 2015.
The petition alleged that, “the CBI has not concluded the investigation in its real spirit and has closed the investigation without making any serious effort to unearth the issues involved in the death of the deceased. In fact, they have been misleading both the petitioner and the US Consulate about the direction of the investigation.”
Jiah’s boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi, son of veteran actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab was arrested for allegedly abetting her suicide on June 10, 2013, a week after her death, but was released on bail on July 2 after the High Court granted him bail.
The petition, filed through lawyers Dinesh Tiwari and Swapnil Ambure, mainly said that the CBI hastily concluded that the case was that of suicide; and that neither did it bother to counter question concerned people nor bother to get important evidence on record.
