Team India thrashed New Zealand by 178 runs in the second test at Kolkata and clinched the series with an unassailable lead in a three match series. The team under Virat Kohli’s leadership learnt the art of winning both at home and abroad in recent times. Both the batsmen and the bowlers understood the task in hand and instead of going for records as in the past, they realise the importance of winning more matches. Even a fifty of some of the prolific run scorers can help the team to build up a moderate total. Unlike in the past, the tail also wags and helps the team to put up a substantial total when batting first. The batsmen did not let the team down while batting first and many of them made vital contributions. Again the bowlers performed their job very well. In this department, they chip in with useful wickets at the right time to make our dream of winning the 500th test match and the 250th in Indian soil rather convincingly. New Zealand were defeated and pummelled to a new low and bowed out without much resistance. Wicket keeper W. Saha made his presence behind and in front of the wickets and won the Man of the Match in a winning cause.  The overall standard of the International umpiring touched a new low in both the test matches to help Team India win without much difficulty.  Kudos to Team India for this clinical performance.
