Depression is a deadly disease among today’s youngsters and the suicidal death of Arjun Bhardwaj(24) who jumped to death from the 19th floor of the city hotel should act as an eye-opener. He was a student from an elite Narsee Monjee College. It truly was a shocker that the young lad streamed a live Facebook video before ending his life. Drugs and alcohol have become the lifestyle of many young minds who fail to differentiate from pleasure and addiction. Excessive use of social media like whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter etc divert their minds from studies into the world of fake entertainment which ultimately leads to depression.

Depression which ends in stress, push many a young mind to commit suicide and this phenomenal needs to be addressed urgently by not only in our educational institutes but also in the government as well. Education is the need of the hour and counselling centres to deal with stress and depression should be accessible to people who need help. Parents too should consider their wards as friends and help them out if they stray from their path.

Depression affects not just students but people of all ages. Hospitals too should have depression care centres to help citizens come out of it. Love and care more than medicines are remedies to cure depression and let us help by our own little way to those in needs of our attention.
