Modi unhappy with Swamy’s comments

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly disapproved the recent attacks on RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and some top Finance Ministry officials by Dr. Subramanian Swamy. If PM had spoken these words as soon as Swamy started attacking, India would not have lost a great visionary. Swamy is undoubtedly a smart man. His academic credentials are impressive and his theories really make sense. There are very few politicians who make an effective opposition, and Swamy is definitely one of them. He serves as a nightmare for all corrupt politicians in India. He is highly qualified, taken on some big names, where nobody would even dare. Swamy never mixes his words and is straightforward and is honest.
He targeted Rajan in the way that he does it, aiming a series of low blows. It is difficult to fathom what prompted Swamy to make Rajan the target of an attack articulated in the most intemperate language. Swamy’s unsolicited advice to Modi to sack Rajan and send him back to Chicago is unwarranted and is an insult to the institution that has guided the Indian economy. It is to be remembered that in the past Modi had praised Rajan’s work and considered his reappointment as RBI governor acknowledging the good work done by him. Swamy is wrong on several counts. Rajan has spearheaded the largest banking sector overhaul in the history of Indian banking. Swamy’s membership in Rajya Sabha does not give any mandate to make indecent comments on bureaucrats and political leaders.
