Monsoon Menace: How to Deal with Skin Breakouts

Humid weather conditions paves way for many skin problems. Acne is one of the most common skin problems that people experience during the monsoons. The weather is sticky, and your skin tends to have clogged pores which in turn lead to skin breakouts during this period. However, along with the humid weather of the monsoon, habits like picking, rubbing, using oil-based make up products, and stress also worsen the condition. With the following easy tips, you could build a healthy environment on the skin surface to resistance and get back the lost radiance!
The sweating and soiling of your skin during monsoons can exacerbate acne if you are already acne prone. To experience a remarkable difference give yourself a facial sauna twice or thrice a week. In a bowl of hot water add two drops of clove essential oil and hold your face over the bowl for 5 minutes. After that apply a face mask prepared by mixing a tablespoon of kaolin or calamine with yoghurt and a pinch of camphor. Leave the mask for 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
Deliberate picking and touching of acne are responsible for the formation of the worst pits on the skin. A skin tightening mask can surely help with this. Peel a cucumber and whip it up with a tablespoon of yoghurt. To this add one teaspoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brandy and some white clay to make a thick mixture. Apply this generously on the large pores, leave it for 20 minutes and then wash it off. Use this recipe at least twice a week for better results.

It is essential to remove dead cells and excessive oils from the skin. Thus exfoliation frames a major part of your skincare regimes during monsoons. Prepare a paste by mixing, two tablespoon of baking soda, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, juice of half a lemon and five tablespoons of honey. Apply this paste and rinse off after five minutes. Make sure not to use this paste more than twice a week. Prepare a face pack by adding 2 pods of crushed garlic to 2 teaspoons of yoghurt and one teaspoon of calamine. Leave it on the face for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Use this pack at least twice a week for healthy skin.

Rains might prove to be a nightmare for oily skin as blackheads in nose; forehead and chin area continue to give even more concern during this time. In order to prevent yourself from facing the mentioned skin problems, mix cornstarch and vinegar in a three is to one ratio, apply it on the face, and wipe it with warm water and a washcloth. Repeat this process twice a week to get clear, beautiful skin.

For acne blemishes, make a fine paste of turmeric rhizome and mustard seeds; apply it on the spots every night. Wash the spots with water to see them gradually fade away day by day.

One can also use astringents for countering the problem of acne if they are looking for natural anti-ageing solutions. Astringents are mainly used on the skin to penetrate and remove all traces of dirt and oil. Likewise, they contract and tighten the pores — protecting the skin from future blemishes and making the face feel exceptionally clean. Individuals who have a combination or oily skin should use astringents daily as a regular part of their beauty regime.

Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice in ¼ th glass of water. Store it in a container and dab it on your face using cotton balls.

Take a cucumber. Grate it and squeeze it to get the juice. In the cucumber juice add a few drops of rose water. Store it in a container and use it regularly.

Add a pinch of alum in a spirit of camphor. Store it in a container and use it as per the skin requirement.

Along with these tips, make sure you follow a daily skin care regime that includes, cleansing, toning and moisturising to keep acne at a check. The seasonal shift will obviously affect your skin, but with a little care and attention you have nothing to be stressed about!
