MS Dhoni and Co. ignore media once again

Indian cricket team yet again avoided interaction with the media as none of the players turned up for the post-match press conference after their five-run defeat against Sri Lanka in a warm up match for the ICC World Twenty20 in Mirpur on Monday.

Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had also skipped pre-departure press meet in Mumbai, causing a furore. The BCCI’s unofficial gag order on players and coaches continues to keep journalists in the lurch.

From the Lankan side, allrounder Sachithra Senanayake came and spoke to the media after the match.

Prior to their departure from India, the BCCI sent out a release stating: “There is no plan behind why we are not holding the pre-departure press conference as such. Just that the boys have come back from a tour and we want to give them some time. Also some of them are playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and will report later on Thursday. Due to lack of time there won’t be any press conference.”

The only media interactions that the players are allowed are with the official broadcasters and tournament organisers where the questions are filtered to keep away all sorts of controversies.
