Is Mumbai safe for women?

Cold blooded murder of a physiotherapist who was raped before she was set on fire at Vile Parle which is in the heart of Mumbai city sent shockwaves all across the country. Such incidents have increased in hitherto safe city of Mumbai and security needs to be stepped up and some protocol must be followed by the fairer sex to prevent these type on incidents happening in future. Mumbai’s elite lifestyle and party culture too could be one of the reason for such shocking events where people socially mix with each other without bothering to check antecedents of people before getting friendly. Young crowd get friendly on Facebook, Whatsapp and other social media and go overboard which eventually leads to breakups, heartbreaks which then leads to suicides, murders etc and this is a dangerous sign.

Education and counselling is the need of the hour for proper behavioural attitude of the young in public places. Security too should be stepped up in sensitive places at night and parents too should keep a watch over the activities of their grownup children so that such incidents can be controlled and checked in the city!
