Conscription must be enforced

I do not know why only I need to point it out, but please note that hostilities on the border will increase in the next five years in an attempt to derail development and progress. Our nation must be prepared for overcoming it. Forget about hostilities, even otherwise our youth must be strong and should be able to hold a gun in their hands and not merely a cricket bat or mobile phone. Despite ageing Akbar Badshah was willing to hold a sword, ride an elephant and face upto “ baghi son Salim”. When Raja Man Singh warns him, “Baghi ke kheme me aise tanha jana munasib nahin”, he brushes aside, “ek baap ke liye munasib hai”. Today we are talking about secularism without understanding that Akbar-e-Alam was the most secular leader long time back. He himself sent Shahzada Salim for conscription (national service) because he wanted him to be strong and responsible.

Rajnath Singh is likely to be appointed as the Home Minister. He must wear the military uniform and be present with the “ jawans” on the border, befitting a “kshatriya”. AK Anthony is a contender for the leader of opposition from Rajya Sabha. He never talked about promoting National Service while he was the Defence Minister when India’s defence preparedness only became weak. What about the several young leaders in the Congress? They must get rid off Digvijaya Singh because this man is nothing but a mere politicker and he lacks vision.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi must improve themselves and introspect about the Congress party’s defeat. Rahul must perform two year national service which should have happened long ago. I shall request the new government to formulate a law on this with some priority to enable government to draft any one (including me) for national service. This has not happened and that is why we see rickety Kejriwal, unshaven and filthy looking members of the AAP. Discipline is the first aspect, without which no race ever progresses and prospers in an amicable manner.

How can you have IAS officers who have not even contributed two years of their life for the betterment of the nation? I shall appeal to the RSS for taking up this matter because they are best positioned to do so. I extend my full co-operation sought in any manner. We also need to drastically control the population growth side by side. All efforts must begin immediately without any delay. Baba Ramdev has taken lot of efforts for promoting Ayurveda. Prominent ports must have outlets selling useful Ayurvedic, Yunani and Homeopathic remedies. When I was young, I was a patient of infentile liver and it was cured by medicines of Jammi Venkatramayya of Chennai ( then Madras). We must check on their location and encourage such therapies. “Triphala” in tablet form is the basic and the best medicine. Baba Ramdev must be anointed as “ Rajvaidya”.

After defeat in LS
CM change his strategy

India's Minister of State Prithvi Raj Chavan speaks at a memorial service in Ahakista, ...Chavan gets into damage control mode to clear files on priority basis to restore the confidence of voters.

The Congress party which has suffered the worst debacle in Maharashtra is trying to revive itself before the assembly election which is few months away. The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has gone into the introspection mode after the defeat and wants to undo the damage by implementing various policies which have been delayed due to lack of consensus between Congress and NCP. The Congress and NCP believe that negative campaigning against the NDA was responsible for its poor show in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election. The tussle between both the parties too has worked in favour of BJP-Sena which aims to replicate its success in the state in assembly election too.

Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan has asked his party workers to pull up their socks and work hard for the forthcoming assembly election. The ruling Congress-NCP alliance feels that BJP-Sena will have more advantage in the assembly election due to its impressive performance in the general election.

According to close sources in Congress, Chavan has been criticised in the past for his slow-paced style of functioning which has resulted into policy paralysis. Therefore Chavan will be clearing all the files on priority basis to kick-start those projects which have been delayed due to bureaucracy and red-tapism.

The new toll regime will replace the existing toll policy which has been severely criticised by the political parties and people. The state government will relook the Local Body Tax which had invited the ire of the trading community as they had protested against it. An alternative to the LBT too has been planned to woo the traders.
The party will focus on regularisation of slums in Pune and Dharavi and will also implement the clustered development scheme with an aim to lure slum dwellers who constitute a major chunk of the vote bank.

The government aims to provide reservations to the Maratha community and give a boost to the housing sector in Mumbai and proper disbursal of relief to farmers who incurred heavy losses during the hailstorms in February-March and tackling an impending drought in 2015 as the Met department has forecast a below average monsoon this year.
As the upcoming Budget session will be the last opportunity to lure voters before the assembly polls for the ruling party, so CM is likely to focus on major announcement.

A Congress party meeting too was held where the state party stalwarts were present including Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and various strategies for the assembly polls were being discussed.

MPCC Secretary Manikrao Thackeray in a meeting said, “We will work hard for the upcoming assembly polls. This time we will leave no stone unturned to make our campaign more effective. We will aim to improve our tally in the election.”

Brand Modi worked for NDA

When Narendra Modi was appointed as the chairman of BJP’s election campaign committee it was anticipated that NDA will improve its tally of seats in the Lok Sabha election. The manner in which NDA won the election by trouncing the UPA has really surprised me. The alliance was well aware that defeating UPA is a tough task hence they fielded Narendra Modi who possess a clean image and is known for transforming Gujarat. Frankly speaking the BJP didn’t have any other option besides Narendra Modi who is a charismatic leader and is known for attracting crowds. In the last election, the party had fielded L K Advani to campaign for election but it failed to work.

There are various other factors besides Modi which enabled the NDA to sweep the Lok Sabha election. In marketing it is said that before selling a product you have to market it well which will induce the buyer to purchase it. Several products are available in the market. Many times, people purchase a product not because it is of superior quality but they get influenced by its advertising.

NDA has adopted the same strategy for coming into power. Narendra Modi was a product and the party did not leave any stone unturned to publicise him so that the message reach every nook and corner of the nation. A slogan named ‘Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkar’ was created and aired on television as it became a instant hit among the masses.
Even people started chanting the slogan ‘Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar’. This message was also trending on social networking sites which further boosted the popularity of Narendra Modi. Thus people became aware about Modi and his accomplishments. A message was sent across the nation that Modi is the only leader who can develop the nation and provide good governance.

On the other hand, the UPA didn’t market itself well which resulted into its downfall. When it comes to marketing and branding the NDA was far ahead of UPA. UPA was contesting the election on the basis of the developmental work undertaken by them whereas NDA sent across a message that it will bring a change and take the nation forward. The alliance also mentioned that it will control inflation and also eliminate corruption from the country.
NDA’s agenda was more advanced and it lured voters and appealed them to vote for Modi and bring some change for the betterment of the nation. Anti-incumbency factor was another reason responsible for the fall of the UPA government. People were already fed up of the rising corruption and inflation prevailing during the UPA government.

People voted for Modi expecting that he will bring some positive changes, curb inflation and provide better administration. He should live up to the expectations of the people and fulfil the promises made in the party’s agenda.

Thane Industrial worker gets life imprisonment in murder case

prisonA local court has sentenced an industrial worker to life imprisonment for brutally killing a fellow worker in 2011.

Thane Additional Sessions Judge M M Wali Mohamad sentenced the accused Bhagwan Dagdu Kumbhar (42) to life and also imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 on him.

According to the prosecution, the accused and the victim, Siddharth R Bharti (32) worked together in Modi Dying Works in Bhiwandi. As Siddharth shirked work, the entire load came on Kumbhar following which he decided to eliminate the former.

Accordingly, in December 2011 it was on the fateful day, the accused took Siddharth to Temghar on pretext of offering him drinks and then proceeded to an isolated place near the Saibaba Mandir in the powerloom town.

Subsequently, Kumbhar fatally stabbed Siddharth seven times in his stomach, the court was told.

A group of youths playing cricket on a nearby ground saw Kumbhar stabbing the victim with a sharp knife when they went searching for their ball.

The court relied on the eyewitness account of the three youths in the age group of 18-21 before pronouncing the judgement.

Also the CCTV camera recording at the Saibaba temple revealed that while going to the isolated place, there were two people but on return only the accused could be spotted.

Based on this evidence, the judge held the accused guilty of the charges of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Mumbai designer stitches special suit for PM-Designate Modi

designer-modiA Mumbai based designer has perfected a special suit for the Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and hopes that Modi will wear it on his swearing -in ceremony which will take place in New Delhi.
“I have made one Jodhpuri suit for Modi, which has two sleeveless jackets. It also has hand-crafted buttons with the BJP’s logo in it,” designer Sai Suman said.
Suman said the suit is prepared keeping in mind Modi’s preferences of colour and clothes material.
Suman struck the idea of designing the suit for Modi while doing a fashion show in Sydney. She said she had a hunch that Modi will win elections and become Prime Minister.
“While I was doing a fashion show in Sydney, I got a strong feeling that Modiji would win these elections. I then immediately flew down to Mumbai and began my work of crafting a special suit for him so that I could gift it to him personally before his oath-taking ceremony day,” Suman said.
She expressed confidence that the suit will perfectly fit Modi because she has been observing his attire since a long time.
“I have been noticing Modiji since very long time. I have keenly noticed the different colours and styles that he uses in his clothes. I hope that I get to gift him these clothes before the ceremony as he would look best in my specially designed clothes,” Suman said.
To a query on what she feels about Modi, the designer said, “Modi is a perfect example of nothing-is-impossible attitude. Modiji is a style icon for the youths, who has the power to influence the young generation,” Suman said.
“When we talk of politics, only bland colours come to our mind, but Modiji is an exception as he is the only politician who experiments with vibrant colours in his attire.
I am sure that the colours I have used in making these clothes for him would further enhance his persona among the masses,” Suman added.

Waiter identifies Salman Khan, says he served drinks to his group

It was another day for Salman Khan away from the studios. The actor made an appearance in the City Civil Session court this morning in connection with the 2002 accident case.
In what could be seen as more trouble for the actor, a steward, working in a bar of a five star hotel identified the superstar in the court. He told the court that Salman along with a group of friends had visited the bar a few hours before the accident involving the superstar had occurred on Hill Road, Bandra on the night of September 28, 2002.
The witness claimed that he had served Bacardi and cocktails to the group that had come with Salman on the accident night 12 years ago. However the waiter said he did not remember whether the actor had consumed drinks. The witness further added it would be difficult for him to say whether everyone in the group had consumed alcoholic drinks.
The star managed to hoodwink the waiting cameras at the main gate of the court as he entered from the back gate. The court hearing went on for a good hour-and-a half after which the court was adjourned till tomorrow.
Salman was accompanied by his sisters Alvira Agnihotri and Arpita Khan. His manager Reshma Shetty, his friend Pippy aka Prashant and his loyal bodyguard Shera were also seen accompanying him. In fact, Pippy and Shera stood right outside the witness box in which Salman stood.
Dressed in a dark blue jeans and a light blue denim shirt, with his hair neatly pulled back, the star looked visibly bored with chips down.
It was terribly hot inside in the courtroom, packed with perspiring attendees. Battling the heat, people could be seen wiping sweat trickling down their forehead. Salman was lucky as he had a ceiling fan, right above the witness box which he occupied for the one-and-a-half hour of his duration in the courtroom.
The gathered photographers could not get any pictures of Salman Khan even when he left the court premises as he was not seated in the front, next to his driver as he is usually. His friend Pippy sat in the front and Salman sat behind. Both the car windows of the back seat were shielded with a light gauze, which made it impossible for flashbulbs to photograph him.
One person was killed and four others were injured when Salman had allegedly rammed his car into a bakery shop on September 28, 2002.
Six witnesses have so far deposed in the re-trial, which would continue.

Safety measures in place to prevent future incidents: Navy Chief RK Dhowan

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan said all recent incidents involving assets of the Navy have been thoroughly analysed and all standard operating procedures are being followed.

“The incidents have been analysed thoroughly at every level. We have put a safety audit organisation in place. We have reiterated to the organisation to see that all standing operating procedures are followed because Navy is a highly professional service,” Dhowan said.

On the state of probe into the incidents, he said, “We have ensured that the measures that need to be taken to ensure the safety standards are in place even before the board of inquiry has been completed.”

“It will be our endeavour to see that whatever lessons are learnt from the board of inquiry, we put those measures in place throughout the Navy” he added.

The Western Naval Command has taken all measures after these incidents so that the operational efficiency of submarines, ships and aircraft remains intact, said Dhowan.

The Navy had a spate of mishaps involving Naval warships in the recent past.

Last year 18 Navy men were killed in an explosion on INS Sindhurakshak. In February this year, two Navy officers were killed and seven sailors injured in a major fire in submarine INS Sindhuratna following which the then Naval Chief Admiral D K Joshi had resigned.

“The Western Naval Command is the most important command of the Navy.

Our officers are capable and responsible to take care of the assets of this command and also to face all the requirements and challenges,” he said.

Asked to comment on the appointment of the Chief of Naval Staff, Dhowan said it is the government’s decision.

“I am a professional and will carry out my duties as far as the office of the Chief of Naval Staff is concerned with professional integrity and pride that I have had the credibility of in the last 40 years. The decision is that of the government,” he said.

To a query on shifting of INS Vikrant from the Naval dockyard to a ship breaking yard, he said the Navy will follow proper procedures in the matter.

“This matter is in the Supreme Court. The command will take all actions in accordance to procedures. Whatever are the requirements of discarding Vikrant, we will follow the procedures,” he said.

On the procurement plans of Navy, Dhowan said, “We have a long term perspective plan for procurement where we decide of our requirements. Our procurement process happens with a laid down procedure.”

“Recently we have inducted aircraft carrier Vikramaditya, which is now fully operational on the western sea board under the Western Naval Command,” he said.

“Shivalik class ships have been inducted into the eastern fleet. We have also our own communication satellite Rukmani which will give a tremendous boost and be a force multiplier as far as the network centric operations of the Navy are concerned,” he said.

The Navy will further include the first ship of project-15 Alpha of the Kolkata class in the Western Naval Command. The ships of project-28 will be included in the Eastern Naval Command, Dhowan said.

There is emphasis on training of Navy personnel, he said. “We have laid a lot of stress to ensure that our personnel are adequately trained, their skills are perfected so that they are ready to face any challenge posed before them. In the coming months it will be my priority to see that we work together as a team so that we can take the Navy to greater heights in the coming years,” he added.

Satish Kaushik Robbed of Over Rs One Crores

Cash amounting to Rs. 1.2 crores was stolen from Satish Kaushik’s residence, the actor-filmmaker said in a complaint to the police.

Mr. Kaushik lodged the complaint on late Sunday at the Versova police station. An official from the station said: “Last night (Sunday night) at around 8:30 pm, Satish and his wife lodged a complaint. Around Rs. 1.2 crores cash has been stolen from his residence. The investigation is going on right now.”

Satish Kaushik had received the cash on May 16 for his creative work, and he planned to deposit the sum at a bank on Monday. He had briefly left it in his living room when it was stolen, said a source close to him.

The source also said that they suspect that Sajan Kumar, a house help, picked up the bag containing the cash and fled the house in the afternoon when Kaushik’s wife went to the restroom.

Sajan Kumar is absconding, according to the source. Mr. Kaushik remained unavailable for comment.

One Injured in Attack over Dispute on Stable Construction

One person was injured in an alleged attack by a group of people over a dispute related to construction of a stable in Kalwa area of Thane, police said today.

Some people in the Waghoba Nagar slum colony were irked with Sudham Ranu Yadav (64) as he did not allow vehicles to pass through a road where the construction of a stable owned by him was underway, Kalwa police station senior inspector R D Malekar said.

Last night, a group of people reached the stable and fired from their revolvers at Yadav.

They also beat up other inmates of the stable in which Yadav’s son Hariprasad was badly injured. He was later admitted in Kalwa’s Chhatrapati Shivaji hospital.

Offences have been registered under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act, police said adding that search for the culprits was on.

Modi’s cabinet of crorepatis

Modi is supported by all carorpatis of this country. His grand large party has 73 crorepati candidates who had contested the Lok Sabha polls. In the 26 seats of Gujarat, 21 BJP candidates have emerged as victorious who are crorepatis. 80.76 per cent candidates, who have been elected as Members of Parliament with a total of 21 seats, ranging from assets of more than one crore to around Rs. 80 crore. The crorepati candidates who have registered victory in the 16th Lok Sabha polls include big names like Narendra Modi, veteran leader L K Advani and actor Paresh Rawal. Other millionaire parliamentarians of the BJP include C R Patil, Poonam Maadam, K C Patel, Vitthal Radadiya, Ramsinh Rathwa, Mohan Kundariya, Naran Kacchadia, Kirit Solanki and Dipsinh Rathod. Jaswantsinh Bhabhor, Darshana Jardosh, Prabhu Vasava, Hari Chaudhary, Leeladhar Waghela, Jayshree Patel, Devaji Fatehpura and Prabhatsinh Chuhan were also on the list. Actor and BJP’s victorious candidate from Ahmedabad (east) Paresh Rawal tops the list with total property of Rs. 79.52 crore including Rs. 56.05 movable and Rs. 23.46 crore immovable assets. BJP candidate from Navsari Lok Sabha seat, C R Patil, has total assets worth Rs. 74.47 crore. He defeated Congress candidate Maqsood Mirza with a margin of more than 5.58 lakh votes. In Saurahstra region, BJP candidate from Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat Poonam Maadam, who has defeated her uncle Vikram Maadam with more than 1.75 lakh votes, owns total assets to the tune of 17.43 crore. BJP’s candidate from Valsad Lok Sabha seat K C Patel, who won against two time MP Kishan Patel of Congress with a margin of 2.08 lakh votes, has total assets worth Rs. 13.11 crore. Dilip Patel, who has defeated former Union minister Bharatsinh Solanki from Anand Lok Sabha seat, owns assets worth Rs. 7,59,98,610. BJP’s strongman from Porbandar Lok Sabha seat Vitthal Radadia has total assets of Rs. 7.30 crore. Radadia had defeated NCP’s Kandhal Jadeja with more than 2.67 lakh votes. In Chhota Udaipur seat, BJP’s Ramsing Rathwa, who won against former Minister of State Naran Rathwa, has total assets of Rs. 3.97 crore.
Mohan Kundaria, who clinched the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat from Congress’ Kunwarji Bavaliya, owns assets worth Rs. 3.95 crore. Assumption is that most of the crorepati MPs from Gujarat are businessmen, and could have earned a lot through business. However, Paresh Rawal is an actor and it is quite possible that whatever money he has invested in property or stocks or in other assets may have skyrocketed. These crorepati MPs have won the election and can be part of Modi’s new cabinet.

As more than needed MPs have won in this general election, Modi is in dilemma to finalise the names in his cabinet. It is real challenge for Modi to distribute portfolio. Three days after he won a thumping victory in the general election, there was little clarity about who Modi would include in his team, even in key portfolios like Defence, Home and External Affairs. Sources say Arun Jaitley, a member of Modi’s core team, could land Finance or External Affairs. Jaitley lost the Lok Sabha election from Amritsar in Punjab, a rare missed mark for his party, which won 336 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha with its allies. Jaitley, a former commerce minister, is regarded as a capable administrator, and is one of the few people in the party who has experience but is not too old at 61.
Rajnath Singh, who reportedly would like to be projected as Modi’s number 2 in government, could head the Home Ministry. Former Telecom Minister Arun Shourie could get a top post, along with Nitin Gadkari, the former BJP president who has just won his first national election from Nagpur and is a key liaison between the party and its powerful ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). Sushma Swaraj, who led the opposition in the lower house of parliament for the past five years but is not seen as close to Modi, wants one of the four big ministries – Defence, Home, External or Finance. Her assignment has yet to be finalised. Modi was considering merging some ministries to streamline government. The BJP was last in power 10 years ago, and some of the ministers who served then are now past their prime, leaving Modi a relatively small pool of experience at his disposal. On the plus side, the party’s runaway success in the election has brought a lot of new faces into the decision-making lower house of parliament. Satyapal Singh, the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, who quit his post to contest the Lok Sabha polls as a BJP candidate in Uttar Pradesh, also visited Singh. He has pulled off an impressive win in Baghpat defeating Rahstriya Lok Dal chief and union minister Ajit Singh. As they finalising a cabinet list, Modi and his team have to decide what roles to give leaders like LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and MM Joshi – who comprise the BJP faction which is reportedly not close to the PM-to-be. Allies are meeting the BJP brass too. YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy also met Modi, purportedly to discuss issues and concerns related to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Sources say leaders of YSR Congress also wanted the PM-elect to reassure them that his ally, Chandrababu Naidu, who will take over as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, will not persecute their leader on what they describe as false charges of corruption. The date of the new government’s swearing-in has still not been finalised. The newly-elected MPs of the BJP will hold a meeting on 21st May to formally elect Modi as their leader, and as such, the prime ministerial designate of the BJP-led NDA.
