Pakistan was beaten like a pulp

Pakistan paid heavy price for complacency as they failed to survive last day’s play and lost a hard fought game by 141 runs after tea.  England made a calculative declaration and that move put paid Pakistan’s hopes.  In a dramatic turnaround Pakistan lost 4 wickets in 24 balls and scored a single during this period. From a 124 for 3 Pakistan slumped to 125 for 7 to lose the game. England thus gained a 2-1 lead in the four match series.  With two ageing seniors Younis Khan and Misbah failing to do justice their job as batsmen, the writing was on the wall.  England victory was special for many reasons as they delivered when it mattered.  After conceding a lead of 103 runs in the first innings, they took the task and made the lost ground in surge ahead.  Kudos to Cook’s English side for a calculated win with over 10 overs spare in the end.
