Public opinion go a long way in bringing out new ideas and give an impetus to have best budget proposal in the days to come. Planning is of utmost importance if BMC plan to implement developmental projects in the metro city. Planning is the need of the hour when you opt to go for major projects relating to the face lift of Mumbai. The hutment near the airport creates lots of security problems and after long deliberations the clearance of the surrounding slums is given a greater mobility of planes landing and taking off from the airport. Latest BMC’s plans to redevelop slums on open spaces is a step in the right direction. In all, a total of 346 hectares reserved for open spaces were currently occupied by slums and it is high time that the open spaces will come under the scanner to redevelop slums in the vicinity. Slum dwellers are the vote bank for the political parties and we can see the deadlock can be broken to their advantage.
