Scrap IPL and clean up cricket

After demonetizing the Indian currency and marching towards a cleaner and healthier economy, Prime Minister Narendr Modi should demonetize Indian cricket by scrapping IPL which is basically played for ‘bookies’ who generate black money from ill-gotten wealth. IPL league has only generated controversies since its inception and even the man who began it all, Lalit Modi is hiding in United Kingdom and one wonders why this league is being played at all when most teams are under the ED (Enforcement Directorate) scanner.

We have seen cricketers who are paid in millions as fees and crores for non-performance (by betting syndicates) and this is spoiling the real form of cricket in the country. Cricket is a religion in our country and let us not fool the viewers who are so passionate about the game in our country. Even our cricket board BCCI is facing legal problems and fighting cases at the Supreme Court level. Let us treat cricket as a sport (and not politics) by allowing past cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev etc to run the organization for lifting Indian cricket to new heights at the international levels.
