Politics is not comedy or laughter show and cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha seems immature and blackmailing the party who honoured him with an seat in the Upper House. Politics too is like batting in cricket where you have to build an innings. The ‘big hitter’ Sidhu it seems has been hit-wicket in his pursue for greener pastures but one is afraid he is a ‘zero’ without the backing of the BJP which is in power at the centre.
Young blood in today’s politics wants power and cabinet portfolio without having the inclination to serve the people. Politicians irrespective of the parties they belong have become opportunists and give up loyalties if they are denied power and are lured by opposition in the murky world of politics. Rumours of AAP luring Sidhu, Kirti Azad and Shatrughan Sinha seems realistic at the moment. AAP party led by Kejriwal thrives on dramatization and the cricketers and film star in question should be on an pitch that suits their style of play but time would decide if they survive in politics or not.
