Sindhu makes India proud

Kudos to Olympics silver medalist P V Sindhu for clinching her maiden Super Series Premier title after edging out Sun Yu of China in the final of the USD 700,000 China Open badminton tournament. Her achievement is a gentle reminder to all that she is equally focussed on the game after clinching the Olympic silver medal. Really it’s a proud moment for India again and more because in the 30 year history of China Open only 3 non-Chinese have won it. Victory in China consolidates Sindhu’s status as one of the premier badminton players of her generation. It is also noteworthy that Sindhu has managed to shelter herself from the exaggeration that surrounded her successful return from the Olympics. Sindhu is an example to all fathers who feel that their daughters should not enter the sports field. She is a role model and will encourage other youngsters to take up sport in a big way.
