Women in our country are an exploited lot be it at their homes or at workplaces. Most women carry on their dual responsibilities despite facing hardships because they have no choice as they have to maintain social sanctity and at the same time earn their livelihood. Sexual crimes and undue pressure at workplace has become the order of the day and the recent murder of Infosys techie Rasila Raju should act as an eye-opener.
The government should amend laws to make life safer for working women. They should not be forced to perform duty on Sunday’s and holidays against their wish and in an environment which threatens their security and safety. Sexual advances and crimes should be treated on par with murder and the guilty punished in fast courts with harsh punishments so that no one dare to commit such crimes in future.
With so many women at workplaces these days, companies too should have their own checks and balance to safeguard the safety of their women employees and the least we can do is to treat them with respect and dignity.
