Water woes

Water woes continue to haunt Mumbaikars as they struggle to get required quantity of water for their regular use. If the position in Mumbai is bad, then Navi Mumbaikars suffer the most. Tall buildings have come in breath and length of the Satellite city and there is no proper provision to provide water to all the flats. New flats are coming up and they get plenty of water for construction purpose. In it is a matter of shame that drinking water is provided for city’s construction sites, whereas the people struggle to get drinking water and they will have to buy drinking water from outside. Misuse of water continue to haunt people in the city. For preparing a helipad in Latur 10000 litres of water was used whereas some areas starve without water. Leakages are observed in every nook and corner of the city and the locked flats within the vicinity keep the taps opened while going out and the drinking water going to the drainage. Despite the state government’s strictures, we find that the housing societies failed to display the measures to be taken in saving water in their notice board with pictorials depicting drops of water can make an ocean. City suffers with position touching a grave situation while the construction work is thriving with special supply of drinking water to them. Even though the reality prices are not coming down and there are no takers for buying flats, what is the need to provide water to them? It is time we stop this nonsense and do a world of good to keep the spirit of Mumbaikars high by supplying enough water to ease out the situation.
