Indian Railways’ luxury train Tejas, which is yet to be flagged off from Mumbai for Goa was found damaged already. The windows, made of glass, were found cracked after the train arrived in Mumbai from Delhi.

On Monday, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will flag off the train from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST). Prabhu had earlier inspected the rake in Delhi. During his Budget speech in 2016, he had said Tejas would “showcase the future of travelling by trains in India.”

Tejas Express also boasts many modern facilities like LED TV and tea/coffee vending machines. Since the train is equipped with better facilities, the fare is also slightly higher as compared to normal mail/express service, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had said while inspecting the new Tejas coaches. As per the agency, the fares on Tejas Express train will be 20 percent more than that of the Shatabdi Express.

There will be tea and coffee vending machines and snack tables at each coach as catering facility for passengers in the new designed coaches. Promised in the budget, Tejas Express will also be pressed into service in Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Lucknow sectors, according to the railways.

Comprising executive class and chair cars, Tejas coaches will be equipped with 22 new features, including fire and smoke detection and suppression systems and the improved aesthetics.
