The appointment of a cricket coach by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for our national team through an advertisement in the newspapers sounds silly. Former India captain and one of the world’s best all-rounder ever, Kapil Dev should be given that honour as no one is better qualified than him to perform that job in our country. Kapil was a complete player who not only excelled in bowling but even mastered batting and fielding. A fitness maniac, Kapil would work wonders with the talented Indian team we have at the moment with Virat Kohli at the helm. He is also a great motivator and with Sourav Ganguly as team manager, the duo can transform the fortunes of team India to great heights. BCCI President Anurag Thakur himself is a young cricket enthusiast should convince fellow board members to appoint Kapil and Ganguly as coach and manager so that ‘achche din’ (good days) become a reality for all cricket lovers. An important position like a cricket coach cannot be filled by applications through advertisements and hope better sense prevail and we have an genuine world famous cricketer for that job and not just anybody to fill that vacancy!
