Sachin Sawant says that Devendra Fadnavis is known for taking a U-turn on several decisions.

devendra-fadnavis-leadThe Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Sachin Sawant has taken a dig at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s style of functioning. According to him the CM lacks maturity to take decisions. The BJP had initially relied on the outside support from NCP but when it threatened to withdraw support the saffron party had an alliance with Shiv Sena and also offered ministerial portfolios to it. Political experts have been saying that the Maharashtra government is controlled by the central government.

“Fadnavis lacks leadership skill and is incapable of taking major decisions. The Maharashtra CM is known for taking a U-turn on several decisions. Fadnavis doesn’t have control over the government” said Sachin Sawant.

The Maharashtra MoS had ordered a police probe to examine the content of the movie PK. Devendra Fadnavis nonetheless overruled his order and said that the no probe is required for the film as it has already been cleared by the censor board.

“Shows of PK won’t be stopped. The movie will continue to be screened in Maharashtra,” Fadnavis said following reports that some theatres had cancelled the shows under threat from right wing groups like Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

PK has the right wing Hindu groups up in arms, staging protests that have turned violent in some places including BJP-ruled Gujarat where theatres have been vandalised. Protests have also taken place in several states including Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Haryana and Delhi, besides Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Leela Samson, chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, has already made it clear that the board will not remove any scenes from the film.

It’s not only about film but there is lack of consensus within the government. Earlier Minister for finance, planning and forests Sudhir Mungantiwar was planning to present a white paper on the state’s financial condition. On the other hand, Fadnavis had asserted that such a move would prove counter-productive and has favoured a Status paper on the issue. He also had announced that ban will be imposed on liquour in Chandrapur but no headway has been made in this regard.

The BJP’s election manifesto had pledged to scrap the Local Body Tax but later Sudhir Mungantiwar said that LBT cannot be abolished until the Centre starts levying the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
