A Private Bill will be introduced in Parliament during next session to make Bhagavad Gita compulsory in the schools. This issue is given a religious perspective in India. Hence 80 per cent of the majority community is deprived of the precious knowledge mentioned in the Gita. The nation will benefit greatly if we take magnanimous view of this rather than taking a narrow-minded view of this issue. Foreign countries have understood the greatness of the Bhagwad Gita and they are studying it as well. But in India a private Bill has to be brought for introducing it. Shri Abdul Kalam the Past President of India had propounded many times that Gita should be included in the school curriculum. But it was ignored.
