Congress has dug its own graveyard in UP

By contesting UP elections all alone, Congress has dug up its own graveyard in state elections. Like in the last elections in UP it is expected that the Congress is not going to perform better because Rahul Gandhi is taking the lead. In recent times, the party achieved some significant success by having a tie-up with regional parties in other states. Rahul Gandhi can save his face by opting for alliance with SP or BSP. However, the announcement to go all alone does not sound well for the national party. Despite all efforts, the party failed to impress voters and regional parties came to power by indulging in vote bank politics. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s whirlwind tour to campaign for BJP may turn the tables very much. In that case Congress will be no where and is expected to finish fourth in the tally of seats in the state. Without any opportunistic election alliances, the party needs to work very hard to garner support and that is not highly impossible under Rahul’s leadership. Thus Congress is counting chickens before they are actually hatched and may fail to recover deposit also in many key seats in east and western UP.
