Corporates should adopt zoos

Zoo the world over signifies the symbol of a prospering city but it is sad to learn that funding for zoo in Mumbai is all set to be cut inspite of it being in an pathetic condition. Even small places like Singapore and Bangkok have world class zoo’s which are a tourist attraction. On the other hand, zoo in Mumbai ranks very low when compared to its counterparts in India as well. Mumbai is the commercial capital of India with billions of investments but sadly the civic authorities and government does not have a big heart when it comes to caring about animals. Animals in Mumbai zoo are not only ill fed but are dying of diseases for want of proper doctors. They are made to live in crumpled unclean unhygienic cages to the shock of all animal lovers in the country.

Mumbai has large corporate Houses which would love to maintain the zoo if the state machinery is unable to fund them and they should be given a chance to adopt them. More than one group too can join hands for this purpose for which they could be given tax concessions or other likewise incentives so that Mumbai zoo is upgraded to the best in the world and tourist make a beeline to the city for its attraction. The city as well as country would earn foreign exchange and revenue if people come to our shores from abroad to visit such places of tourist attraction.
