Dug up roads in Mumbai

This is to bring to your notice that the roads in Mumbai including by lanes have become a terrible nightmare to both vehicle users and pedestrians. Almost all roads of Mumbai have been dug up by contractors involved in underground drainage work. I appreciate the initiative but once the road is dug up the same is not properly covered thereby causing a lot of inconvenience to the public. It is the duty of the contractors and the officers who supervise the work to see that the dug up sites are properly covered up so as to make a smooth movement of vehicles. The work should be completed within three to four days. But in Mumbai city and its suburbs, the roads have been left uncared and uncovered for months together thus causing hardships to citizens. Who is responsible for it? We can’t blame the Chief Minister for all civic problems. Every street and ward is managed by engineers and other officials and I expect good sense will prevail over them. We want smooth roads not necessarily metal ones. It hardly requires any money but needs proper monitoring and control over contractors.
