Spiritual leaders have often grabbed headlines for being involved in some controversy or the other. Self-styled godman Rampal joined the list of controversial gurus after he was arrested by the police on charges of conspiracy to murder incitement of violence and contempt of court in connection with a confrontation in 2006 between his disciples and adherents of another sect. Logically, Rampal’s arrest and his stand against Arya Samaj made him popular.
According to reports, the police had conducted search operations and have recovered condoms, drugs, adult content and even a secret camera in the ladies toilet at Rampal’s Satlok Ashram. This incident only goes to show that illegal activities are occurring in his ashram. In the name of God, people like Rampal are playing with people’s sentiments.
Police are carrying out a search inside the Satlok ashram to scour for any objectionable items. Arms in large quantities, petrol, acid, number of bottles of imported liquor and various other objectionable items were found from the ashram, sources in the police said. The Modi government has been already being criticised for offering Z plus security to baba Ramdev.
Besides Rampal various sexual wellness products have been recovered from other spiritual gurus like Swami Nithyananda, Shiv Murti Dwivedi, Asaram Bapu and many others.
Nithyananda landed in a controversy after a purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with an actress was telecast by local TV channels. Karnataka government had passed orders to Ramnagar district joint collector and SP to conduct searches in Nithyananda’s Dhyanapeetam ashram in Bidadi. Around 50 police men thronged into the ashram and searched every nook and corner in the premises. Few hard disks and documents were recovered from the devotees of the godman. In the server room of the ashram, 20 computers, thousands of DVDs and 4 video cameras were found. The police have seized condom packets, Ganjai, several compact disks and some burnt magazine at Nithyananda’s ashram.

He changed his profession, with saint like clothes, a big beard, polite speech and became, ‘Ichchadhari Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot’.
Today he has assets worth crores, a 200 bed hospital, a huge temple, writes for magazines, has video CD’s with the name, ‘Shri Sai Amrit Varsha’ and crores of followers.
Condoms have been recovered from controversial godman Asaram Bapu’s ashram. Asaram, 72, was put under arrest after a 16-year-old girl lodged a police complaint in August, 2013 accusing him of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Jodhpur. He is lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail.
