Hope for the common man

The common man today is extremely frustrated because every politician keeps making tall promises only to obtain votes.  After elections, people are left high and dry. The manifesto of every political party gives a very rosy picture.  In reality, hardly anything is found to be done or achieved. Moreover, before and after every election, each politician and each political party blames wholly and solely the Opposition for the woes of the country. The State treasury is drained without benefits being accrued to the common man.  Kickbacks, frauds, scams are a routine feature.  After elections, the elected representatives hardly visit the constituencies. They are busy with everything, except possibly serving the common man. The common man is now keen on casting his vote to that candidate or to that political party who will genuinely stick to the promises made before elections. Except possibly the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), no other political party seems to have, in all sincerity, kept its promises.

Whatever political pundits may predict, all said and done, with all the bouquets and brickbats, AAP appears to be the most appropriate alternative in terms of delivering promises and assurances. Hence, in the ensuing Punjab elections, AAP has the brightest chance of literally sweeping the polls, like the Delhi elections. Even in the Mumbai Municipal elections, AAP seems to be a party that will sweep the polls. Mumbaikars are fed-up with corrupt practices in the Corporation and hollow slogans of ‘aamhi karoon daakhwan’! Ultimately, Mumbaikars have realized that the corrupt in the Corporation and outside are all hand-in-glove. AAP may possibly have to use gloves in its hands to ‘box’ these people out!
