Moments of panic prevailed at Mumbai Airport when a Jet Airways aircraft delayed its operations at city airport as the plane was struck for three days with landing gear failed and that compelled six flights diverted and three were aborted in this particular period. Somehow, the airport has become a mess as the crack in the trunnion pin that hold the landing gear and the aircraft body together failed causing the lying Machines will have to shed more fuel because of the melee. Toe tractors were required to remove the stranded flight from the runaway. Time and again we face such ticklish situation in one of the important airports of our country. The main problem with Mumbai Airport is congestion. Safety should be the first option if a big aeroplane land in our airstrip. Apart from this the runway does not have the mandatory side strips to cushion planes in case of skids or crashes. Inaccurate markings near parking bays were another cause of concern, as they are important for take off, landing and taxing. The unplanned closure of the main airstrip took a toll on flight schedules.
