Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli is all set to make her tennis comeback after a four-year hiatus.
The Frenchwoman announced her immediate retirement from professional tennis after winning the 2013 Wimbledon title.
In an Instagram video posted by her on Tuesday, Bartoli announced her comeback for Miami Open hardcourt tournament in March.
In the clip, she said, “I’m coming back this year on the professional tour. It’s going to be a huge challenge. I still have a lot of practice ahead of me, but I’m hoping to be ready for March and the Miami Open”.
“I’m really looking forward to be on the court again in front of you, to feel your support, especially in Paris, in Roland Garros, in my home country, but also for the Fed Cup – and Wimbledon. I’m so looking forward to it,” she added.
Besides being the last French player to win a Grand Slam singles tournament, the 33-year-old has finished runner-up in 2007 and was a semifinalist at the 2011 French Open.
In 2012 she reached a career high ranking of No. 7 in the world.
She has also won eight Women’s Tennis Association singles titles and three doubles titles.
In 2016, Bartoli revealed that she “feared for her life” due to an unknown virus.
However, later in the month she said that after a blood transfusion, recovery was in sight.
