Speaking during a debate over the motion of Thanks on Governor’s address to the Joint session of Maharashtra Legislature, NCP MLC Kiran Pawaskar, furnishing documentary evidence, said Fadnavis had few months ago accepted a cheque of Rs. 20 lakh for CM’s Relief Fund from the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association.

“There is evidence that the CM indeed accepted a cheque of Rs. 20 lakh from the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association which has been supporting Dance Bar Association,” Pawaskar said, adding that a person holding a Constitutional post cannot mislead people.

On March 11, while replying to supplementary question of Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde that if the government has received any funds from Dance Bar Association, Fadnavis had said government did not receive any fund from the association.

Pawaskar said that there was no coordination between the BJP and Shiv Sena on various issues due to which the state was suffering.

“The government is spending hundreds of crore on Shivaji Memorial. But, Sena, which is a part of the government does not even accept February 19 as ‘Shivaji Jayanti’. First start with things that does not cost any money, then build memorials,” he said.

The NCP leader also said that there was a “difference in thought processes” of both parties on issues like statehood for Vidarbha and Jaitapur nuclear plant.

“The government is only using the Governor to spread misinformation,” he alleged.

Later, Pawaskar said, “Action should be taken against individuals who hold a Constitutional post and lie to people by misleading the House.”
