Ahead of the much-anticipated blockbuster semi-final clash at the Miami Open, Australian controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios has heaped praise on Roger Federer, saying that the Swiss maestro has been playing some of the best tennis of his career.

Reflecting on his upcoming last-four clash against Federer, Kyrgios said that the former has been playing incredibly well, however, adding that he is not focusing on the same and only looking forward to “play big”.

“He’s playing incredible at the moment. He’s had a great year. He obviously looks very healthy and is moving very, very good. I’m not going to think about it too much at the moment. I’m going to serve big and play big. That’s my game style that I’ve had success with, so that’s what I’m going to bring,” Sport24 quoted Kyrgios as saying.

While Kyrgios registered a 6-4, 6-7 (9-11), 6-3 win over 19-year-old German Alexander Zverev in the last-eight clash, Federer struggled past 10th seed Berdych 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) to book his place in the semi-finals.

Earlier, Federer followed up his Australian Open triumph with a victory at Indian Wells, which was the 35-year-old’s 25th Masters 1000 title.

Kyrgios, on the other hand, is also enjoying a good start to 2017 season as he will be competing in his third semi-final of the year this Saturday.

Commenting on Kyrgios’ youthful exuberance, Federer insisted that it is certainly an advantage heading into the business end of tournaments.

“They like the big stage and the belief they have makes them tough to play in any given match,” said Federer said of the ATP’s young players.
