The employment growth in India, over the last few years, came down significantly as the fresh data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) showed that unemployment rate in the month of October jumped to 8.5 per cent, which is the highest in over three years.
A new academic research paper released by the Centre of Sustainable Employment also concluded that there has been a significant decline in total employment in India between 2011-12 and 2017-18, reported English daily. The research paper by Santosh Mehrotra and Jaiati K Parida stated as, “However, due to sharp increases in enrollment at every level of education over the noughties, it was expected that post -2012 total employment would increase, particularly in the non-farm sectors. This would have sustained the structural transformation process which began after 2004-05. But unfortunately, total employment during 2011-12 and 2017-18 declined by 9 million. The research further states that this happened for the first time in India’s history.
It is really ironical noting that Coimbatore Municipal Corporation posted a vacancy for 549 sanitary workers. What followed was that 7000 highly qualified applicants even some of them with engineering and graduate degrees applied for the job. The corporation witnessed the overwhelming turnout of 7000 candidates.
Similarly, few months back, Chennai witnessed an unusual event when around 4600 of youth sent their application for 14 posts like sweepers and sanitary workers. The applicants had professional qualification like B.Tech, M.Tech, Master of Business Administration. These are evident indications which show how drastically the country is suffering from job crisis.
Though the government constantly has been refuting the grim of job data but the facts and figures can’t be avoided any more. Therefore, now the government should take an initiative to overcome the high prevalence of unemployment and figure out the derivers of the job crisis. In this regard, it is worth to mention a book titled ‘Job crisis in India’ written by business journalist Raghavan Jagnnathan. The author in his book pointed out factors and reasons behind this decline of employment. He attributed that the absence of skills required in the highly technical nature of jobs is a big factor. Another aspect of this is that in the majority of cases the skills or training acquired by the youths do not match or suit the core demand of the job. So at first the government must step up for reformation, innovation and renovation of the standard of the education in universities and colleges.
The National Employability Report 2019, reveals, “The employability of Indian engineers continues to be painfully low with more than 80 per cent engineers unemployable for any job in the knowledge economy”. The report further said that past nine years made no changes on aggregate level and Indian education system needs systemic long term changes in higher education. The report looks quantitatively into the reasons for low employability and makes detailed recommendations for change.
It shows that majority of engineering graduates do not have enough skills to compete in the knowledge market. Then what about Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) which was launched in July 2015 and Rs 1,500 crore had been allocated with an endearing aim to equip youngsters with handful of skills. Again in 2016 a renovated version of PMKVY was launched aiming at providing training to 10 million youngsters and Rs 12,000 crore had been allocated but the results are yet to be seen. The government must find out a proper solution for this crisis before the situation gets more worsened.

The 23 year old woman from Unnao district who was set on fire by five men including two were accused of raping her, died in Delhi hospital. Her family had earlier said the last rites will not be performed unless UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrives in the village.
The family members of the Unnao rape victim later agreed to perform her last rites following a negotiation with Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Mukesh Meshram and other senior police officials. I think that her family members will be provided security, and a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Economic slowdown
Despite the various measures taken by the government, the slowdown of the Indian economy has deepened further in July–September 2019, with the gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the second quarter of the financial year 2019–20 (Q2 FY 20) at 4.5 per cent, compared to 5 per cent in the first quarter. The growth rate has now slowed down for the sixth consecutive quarter, declining by 3.6 percentage points during this period. In the current GDP series, the growth rate at 4.5 per cent is the lowest since that recorded in the fourth quarter of FY13, which was 4.3 per cent. What this points to is that the underlying private demand is weak, as the scenario has been progressively getting worse, despite higher government spending. This is because consumption has failed to pick up, and private investment has remained stagnant.

Fire tragedy claims 43 lives
The massive fire tragedy in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi area claimed the lives of 43 people, injuring 56 people. It is a very dreadful event, which reminded the Pulwama attack and we are losing sons of India again and again and are not controlling such as a problem, even though the Delhi government immediately announced Rs 10 lakh for dead and Rs 1 lakh and free treatment for injured people.

When TV serials turn noxious
There was a time when we had only Doordarshan with its own good programmes which was clean and harmless. Even the serials aired during that time had it’s own values and most of them were meant for the whole family. Today the scenario has changed and it is only with anxiety and anguish that one can sit in front of the TV. The serials are still there and instead of one or two now it is hundreds aired by various channels and in different languages!
Parents and elders who get lured to these serials definitely have to give a thought for the little ones who knowingly and unknowingly watch the serials along with adults containing only matters meant for the latter. Serial makers whose only aim is to increase the TRP rates and make a big cash are least bothered about the matter stuffed in their soaps which most often contain illicit adult relationship conflicts and clashes. Serials today are endless and the serial makers only aim in creating such dragging soaps just to get sponsorship profit and high viewing rate. The long dragging monotonous serials have an upper class air about them with hot bedroom, board room quarrels which serve no purpose for the audience especially the younger generation. Many of these serials give a wrong picture of adult relationships and the society in general. Let serial makers go in for short good serials with fine family stories showing a positive note to the society which urgently at present need a remedy to escape from all sorts of pressure. It is high time the I & B ministry rein in serials and serial makers. A censorship board for serials is a must today.

A 30-year-old man killed his two minor children, a 3-year-old daughter and an 18-month-old son in Chembur on Sunday morning. The police have registered an accidental death report and sent the three bodies for autopsy at Rajawadi Hospital.
Police said the incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday. The deceased man identified as Dinesh Yadav was a residence of Kasturba Nagar in Chembur whereas the kids were identified as Netra and Pranay.
According to police, the man and his wife would often get into heated arguments. Five days ago, his wife walked out after the duo argued. And he was frustrated that his wife would leave the house after every fight.
The incident came to light when Yadav’s brother, who stayed in the neighborhood, noticed that his doors were closed late into the morning and sensed that something was wrong.
The police said, “Nobody answered the doorbell for a long time, after which the brother along with other local residents broke the door open. They saw that the two kids were lying on the bed with Yadav’s body hanging from the ceiling by a dupatta.”
The prima facie of reports suggests that the kids were not strangled but poisoned by their father. However, the police are waiting for the post-mortem report.
“On the primary basis, we have registered an accidental death case and are further investigating the matter. We suspect that Yadav had killed the two children by poisoning them and later killed himself. We will see the post-mortem report to ascertain the reason behind the murder and further add a murder section against Yadav if he is responsible for the death of the children. Also, we will take the statement of the family members to know the exact reason behind the brutal act,” the officer added.
The police crime branch busted two sex rackets in Aurangabad which were functioning along the Beed bypass, arrested eight people and rescued four women on Saturday late night.
According to police, they first conducted a raid in Rajesh Nagar area of the city, where the officers have sent a dummy customer and after confirming it police raided the place and held a lady who was running this sex racket, an agent with four other people. The customers are – a 23-year-old youth from Anand Nagar, a 29-year-old man from Chikalthana, a 29-year-old resident of the Mhada colony, Aurangabad, and a 42-year-old man from Badnapur, Jalna.
After arresting the people the crime branch seized 480 bottles of liquor and cash worth Rs 1, 44,930 and, rescued three women who were involved in prostitution.
Acting on tip police busted another sex racket which was running at Yashwant Nagar of Beed bypass area and arrested two people including a woman who forced the victim into flesh trade. Later on, police have sent the rescued women to a rehabilitation center. The accused were produced before a holiday court on Sunday, which remanded them in judicial custody.
While the entire nation might be congratulating the Hyderabad Police for the encounter of the four accused responsible for the rape and murder of veterinarian doctor, women from other parts of the country find it difficult to get justice for rape and molestation incidents. Even today women have to run from pillar to post to file FIR for rape and molestation incidents. Many times the police don’t cooperate with them and don’t file FIR whenever such incidents occur. On Saturday a woman from Sindhupur village in Uttar Pradesh has alleged that the police has refused to file her complaint of attempted rape. Instead of helping the woman the police allegedly asked the victim to come with her complaint once the rape has taken place.
Cops told the woman, “Rape to hua nahi, jab hoga tab aana. (Rape has not happened. We will see when it happens.) The woman whose complaint has not been registered said three men from the village tried to rape her few months back when she was on her way to purchase medicines. The woman said,“I was going to purchase my medicines. These three men stopped me and started pulling my clothes. They tried to rape me.” The woman had identified the accused as Ram Milan, Guddu, and Ram Babu. When she approached the police station with her complaint cops threw her and asked her to come after the rape will take place.
When AV contacted Criminal lawyer Abbas Kazmi on U.P Police statement he said, “It’s pathetic the way police is behaving with the women. The most important responsibility of them is to prevent the rape against such woman. Telling woman, “rape toh hua nahi, jab hoga tab aana is condemnable.” The police should totally change their attitude while dealing with such cases. A common man feels that the police should do their job with more empathy and diligence.”
This is the same village where Unnao rape victim was set ablaze by five men on Thursday. The woman who suffered 90 per cent burns died at Safdarjung Hospital around 11.40 pm in Delhi on Friday. The women have to suffer in silence as many times police don’t file FIR after the occurrence of rape. Also many women hesitate to file complaint as they fear that the family’s reputation is at stake. While those who approach the police station to file complaint are harassed by the police officer. Police also ask them to brief about the rape incident as they feel awkward while explaining the incident to them. This is not the first instance where police have failed to cooperate with the women and did not register the complaint. The recent case of JNU student’s rape and inaction on the part of the police once again brings to the fore the often raised query, “Can the police refuse to register FIR”. The girl has accused the police of turning her away when she went to report the incident and seek help from them.
The Hyderabad veterinarian’s parents too had faced hurdles while filing complaint with the police. The woman’s family has said that police had initially refused to file and FIR saying the woman might have eloped with someone. In 2018 a 28 year old woman was allegedly raped by a man died after she set herself ablaze in a police station in Shahjahanpur. The woman’s husband Ramvir alleged that she was upset after police refused to file FIR in the case. They had impose pressure on the woman to reach a compromise with the accused.
It is 2019 but women are still judged by their looks, body shamming to commenting on dark complexion has become routine. There are many examples showing that people find it difficult to judge the performance of women, without being distracted by their appearance. From personal secretary to Back office manager, from reporter to anchor and on personal levels to friends level we want smart and good-looking people around. Look is the first impression and that is the way we have been conditioned and on the other hand in spite of all these odds we celebrate this so called woman’s day, because woman needs, cosmetics, fashion, garments and grocery, everything has a huge market and such days gives commercial success. From a school going young girl to an old lady is in any profession are judged by their looks than their potential. Men, as well as women tend to establish the worth of individual women primarily by the way their body looks, research shows. We do not do this when we evaluate men. Women are aware this is the case, and also derive their own sense of value from the way they look. This affects their self-confidence, task focus and performance, even on tasks totally unrelated to their looks.
Female athletes too, often receive comments on their outfits instead, of their achievements. Sania Mirza is one great example. If you Google her name, you will find all sorts of awkward pictures on prime search. The inclination to emphasis on women’s looks and bodies instead of their character traits or abilities even in situations where looks should not matter is quite widespread. There is another example of tennis player Serena Williams, who won the prestigious Roland Garros Grand Slam contest less than a year after having survived the difficult birth of her daughter. In the media, disapproval of her black catsuit prevailed over praise of her fitness and strong play. In a world filled with wonderful people of all colours, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes, I think it’s time that we flushed society’s ideas on who is beautiful down the toilet and agreed to be gentler and less judgemental about what others look like.
Even in commercials to beauty pageants and also in films, unless the woman is not given skimpy clothes to wear and expose her curves the film will not have sailable point. Expecting women to wear a swimsuit in a competition for talent is an obvious trigger to consider their bodies rather than their minds. There is no such show to guarantee that the competition will be about talents, instead of looks. In other situations too, more care is needed to ensure that women can display their talents without having to worry about the way they look. Random abuse, exploitation, rapes and honour killing in India shows how much we really respect the woman.
Girls believe that motherhood still disadvantages women in the workplace, and almost half of those aged 11 to 21 worry that having children will negatively affect their career. A similar number think that employers at least to some extent prefer to employ men to women. Half worry about the pay gap between men and women (50%), rising to 60 per cent among 16- to 21-year-olds. The levels of criticism female celebrities and women in the public eye in the media have also affected young women’s aspirations to be in similar positions one day. The way women are criticized for how they look on TV has put them off every wanting to be in a position where they’d appear on TV themselves.
Women should demand to be judged based on their intelligence, their character, their competence, their skills, their talents, their intellectual acuity, their capabilities, and their qualifications. They should insist that they should be respected for their brains and not for their bodies. After so many years of progress, there are still women out there who judge and evaluate each other first and foremost based on appearance. They make instantaneous character assumptions based on external characteristics. They carry the same bias that they have been fighting against, bypassing substance for style; but somehow, because they are women, that makes it okay. It is most certainly not okay. If it were just men who endorsed these biases, then it would be annoying, but somehow easier to accept. However, there are far too many empowered, independent, strong females who guzzle the “beauty ideal” Kool-Aid and who subscribe to the belief that physical attractiveness is a woman’s strongest asset, totally sabotaging efforts to convince society that women should be valued for who they are, and not for what they look like. I would guess that many of these women call themselves champions of the feminist cause and have no clue that they are anything but champs.
Meanwhile, in the digital and social media era looking beautiful is an utmost priority for men and women both. To make their pictures most beautiful there are many mobile apps that can give the look that they want. But this is not enough. The greed to upgrade or look glamorous leads people to scams but that is ok with them. We are all aware that there is a significant emphasis on appearance in the world that we live in. We have not only let society continue to correlate a woman’s value to the size of her body, but we, women, reinforce that code, which is so adversative to our desire to be assessed based on our intellect, our character, and our abilities. It’s disheartening. Well! Until we do not shed these double standards and learn to be human that the men and women, there is no point in celebrating woman’s day or man’s day.

All four men accused in the gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian in Telangana were killed in a Police encounter at Chatanpally and the testing time is over. The young woman’s rape and murder had triggered shock and horror across the nation after her body, badly burnt, was found last week near Hyderabad. As a common citizen, I am feeling happy that this was the end we all wanted for them. But this end was supposed to be through the legal system. Justice should have delivered to the victim through proper channels but it will take its own time. The judiciary has been running from pillar to post for the last 7 years to get Nirbhaya’s culprits hanged to death. Justice has been delivered at the hands of police and in the name of encounter. Let the rapists learn a lesson now.
It could have been better had these four accused were chained up and paraded on streets of Hyderabad and then given severe punishment. However, it is good that they had finally met with their own sad fate. Purists’ will question whether it is authentic. ‘Pragmatists’ will ‘look the other way’ contending that it is OK in exceptional cases where the crime is as clear as daylight. This is likely to be the majority opinion. But media, for obvious reasons, cannot approve it instantly without acceptable evidence, which is also right.
It was a heinous crime which requires severe punishment to the culprit of this crime. The agitation which was taking Pan India shape will die down immediately. Police does not need to go through the arduous task of collecting evidences, make a case and present in a court of law. Political masters also got relief, and victims family too. What a easy solution to a difficult problem. It may also bring peace to all those who were demanding death to culprits.
The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s rule is different from others. He had handled the RTC strike with iron hand. The judicial process is very slow and people are losing faith in the justice. In the Delhi Nirbhaya case justice is yet to be delivered. Hope that one day our country judiciary will also be fast in delivering and executing the judgement that common people have faith in judicial system to serve justice than to rely on encounters to provide speedy justice.
Justice would have been done only when the women are able to walk the streets without fear of mental and physical humiliation. Rape is a form of humiliation, showing that I can do anything to you and don’t care for how you feel about it. It is a sad reflection on how, despite the cultural celebration of women in this country as mothers and sisters, the male dominion does not perceive them so when they are in public spaces. We must hang our heads low and atone for our omissions as a society.
When the CM of the state directed that the judicial processes of the case be expedited through a fast track court, and, further, when the Hyderabad Police decided to constitute a team of 50 officers to conduct a thorough investigation of the case, it sounds impossible that the accused would have had any chance to either snatch the weapons of the policemen who were taking them to the crime scene to reconstruct the event. The four should have been produced before court of law to award them the punishment they deserved. The supremacy of the law – even if in the end in this case, would have been death for the quartet – should not have been devalued.

Kudos to Telangana police for quick justice in Disha rape-murder case
It was indeed heartening to witness school-girls from school-buses cheering Telangana Police for quick justice done in recent horrible rape-cum-murder case of veterinary doctor in Hyderabad. BSP supremo Mayawati deserves all compliments for echoing public-voice in demanding UP Police to follow Telangana Police hinting at recent Unnao episode where rape-accused released on bail tried to burn alive the rape-victim.
Chief Justice of India should order probe in role of magistrate, police-lawyers and police-persons involved in recent Unnao-case where rape-accused were given easy bail to make them burn alive the rape-victim who is now battling for life. All these persons should be suspended till probe is over with strict-most action and punishment, to be a lesson for others.
Our poor-most justice-delivery-system is responsible when time may not be far when people may start taking law in hands when rapist Akku Yadav was lynched to death by about 200 women on August 13, 2004 outside court-room in Nagpur because of poor justice-delivery-system which grants easy bail to rapists.
President of India should wake up to immediately reject mercy-petitions of infamous Nirbhaya rape-accused so that countrymen may celebrate their hanging on coming 16th December, the date on which heinous crime was committed.

Humanity in our country has gone for toss
Newborn flung down from a Kandivali high-rise comes as a shock. Humanity in our country has gone for a toss and killing of newborn babies is a heinous crime more cruel than even rapes and molestations. Unplanned babies could be the reason for such action and family planning methods should be popularised so that crimes of such nature are reduced. Security at high-rise buildings too should be beefed up so that such actions come under the scanner through CCTV cameras.
Education too is the need of the hour and citizens should be god fearing as taking human life is criminality against the Almighty. The shocking incident needs to be investigated fully so that the guilty can be punished appropriately.

Congress should not oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill
Union Cabinet deserves all compliments for approving Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 which allows people of all religions other than Muslims, easy access to Indian citizenship. Everyone knows that Hindus who are mainly limited to India and Nepal are facing worst torture in Islamic nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh as minority-community there are forcing them to flee to India. Same is situation with Christians in Pakistan. Central government has thus played a perfect secular role in opening its doors for people of all religions facing torture in Islamic countries.
Congress which was instrumental in creating divided India on basis of religion has no right in opposing the Bill in its usual policy of pseudo-secularism. How can people of Muslim community from countries like Myanmar can be allowed to enter India when that country has itself become victim of Rohingya Muslims. Likewise Bangladeshi Muslims came to India only because of better living here, but are manly involved in anti-social and criminal activities. As such all accounts, decision of Union Cabinet is based on practical aspects. Indian Muslims are enjoying equal rights and better livelihood here, being the proof that Muslims from neighboring Islamic nations Pakistan and Bangladesh want to come to India, which must be stopped.
