Sex Racket Aurangabad Beed Maharashtra,Aurangabad,Sex Racket,Beed,Maharashtra,Badnapur,Jalna,Crime Branch,RaidThe police crime branch busted two sex rackets in Aurangabad which were functioning along the Beed bypass, arrested eight people and rescued four women on Saturday late night.

According to police, they first conducted a raid in Rajesh Nagar area of the city, where the officers have sent a dummy customer and after confirming it police raided the place and held a lady who was running this sex racket, an agent with four other people. The customers are – a 23-year-old youth from Anand Nagar, a 29-year-old man from Chikalthana, a 29-year-old resident of the Mhada colony, Aurangabad, and a 42-year-old man from Badnapur, Jalna.

After arresting the people the crime branch seized 480 bottles of liquor and cash worth Rs 1, 44,930 and, rescued three women who were involved in prostitution.

Acting on tip police busted another sex racket which was running at Yashwant Nagar of Beed bypass area and arrested two people including a woman who forced the victim into flesh trade. Later on, police have sent the rescued women to a rehabilitation center. The accused were produced before a holiday court on Sunday, which remanded them in judicial custody.

UP cops refuse to file FIR, slams victim

Unnao Police refused FIR of Victim,Unnao Case,Unnao,Bihar,Uttar Pradesh,Unnao Rape Case,Rape Case,Fir rejected,FIR,Girl Filing FIR on police station,Police StationWhile the entire nation might be congratulating the Hyderabad Police for the encounter of the four accused responsible for the rape and murder of veterinarian doctor, women from other parts of the country find it difficult to get justice for rape and molestation incidents. Even today women have to run from pillar to post to file FIR for rape and molestation incidents. Many times the police don’t cooperate with them and don’t file FIR whenever such incidents occur. On Saturday a woman from Sindhupur village in Uttar Pradesh has alleged that the police has refused to file her complaint of attempted rape. Instead of helping the woman the police allegedly asked the victim to come with her complaint once the rape has taken place.
Cops told the woman, “Rape to hua nahi, jab hoga tab aana. (Rape has not happened. We will see when it happens.) The woman whose complaint has not been registered said three men from the village tried to rape her few months back when she was on her way to purchase medicines. The woman said,“I was going to purchase my medicines. These three men stopped me and started pulling my clothes. They tried to rape me.” The woman had identified the accused as Ram Milan, Guddu, and Ram Babu. When she approached the police station with her complaint cops threw her and asked her to come after the rape will take place.
When AV contacted Criminal lawyer Abbas Kazmi on U.P Police statement he said, “It’s pathetic the way police is behaving with the women. The most important responsibility of them is to prevent the rape against such woman. Telling woman, “rape toh hua nahi, jab hoga tab aana is condemnable.” The police should totally change their attitude while dealing with such cases. A common man feels that the police should do their job with more empathy and diligence.”
This is the same village where Unnao rape victim was set ablaze by five men on Thursday. The woman who suffered 90 per cent burns died at Safdarjung Hospital around 11.40 pm in Delhi on Friday. The women have to suffer in silence as many times police don’t file FIR after the occurrence of rape. Also many women hesitate to file complaint as they fear that the family’s reputation is at stake. While those who approach the police station to file complaint are harassed by the police officer. Police also ask them to brief about the rape incident as they feel awkward while explaining the incident to them. This is not the first instance where police have failed to cooperate with the women and did not register the complaint. The recent case of JNU student’s rape and inaction on the part of the police once again brings to the fore the often raised query, “Can the police refuse to register FIR”. The girl has accused the police of turning her away when she went to report the incident and seek help from them.
The Hyderabad veterinarian’s parents too had faced hurdles while filing complaint with the police. The woman’s family has said that police had initially refused to file and FIR saying the woman might have eloped with someone. In 2018 a 28 year old woman was allegedly raped by a man died after she set herself ablaze in a police station in Shahjahanpur. The woman’s husband Ramvir alleged that she was upset after police refused to file FIR in the case. They had impose pressure on the woman to reach a compromise with the accused.

Why does society value beauty over brains?

It is 2019 but women are still judged by their looks, body shamming to commenting on dark complexion has become routine. There are many examples showing that people find it difficult to judge the performance of women, without being distracted by their appearance. From personal secretary to Back office manager, from reporter to anchor and on personal levels to friends level we want smart and good-looking people around. Look is the first impression and that is the way we have been conditioned and on the other hand in spite of all these odds we celebrate this so called woman’s day, because woman needs, cosmetics, fashion, garments and grocery, everything has a huge market and such days gives commercial success. From a school going young girl to an old lady is in any profession are judged by their looks than their potential. Men, as well as women tend to establish the worth of individual women primarily by the way their body looks, research shows. We do not do this when we evaluate men. Women are aware this is the case, and also derive their own sense of value from the way they look. This affects their self-confidence, task focus and performance, even on tasks totally unrelated to their looks.
Female athletes too, often receive comments on their outfits instead, of their achievements. Sania Mirza is one great example. If you Google her name, you will find all sorts of awkward pictures on prime search. The inclination to emphasis on women’s looks and bodies instead of their character traits or abilities even in situations where looks should not matter is quite widespread. There is another example of tennis player Serena Williams, who won the prestigious Roland Garros Grand Slam contest less than a year after having survived the difficult birth of her daughter. In the media, disapproval of her black catsuit prevailed over praise of her fitness and strong play. In a world filled with wonderful people of all colours, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes, I think it’s time that we flushed society’s ideas on who is beautiful down the toilet and agreed to be gentler and less judgemental about what others look like.
Even in commercials to beauty pageants and also in films, unless the woman is not given skimpy clothes to wear and expose her curves the film will not have sailable point. Expecting women to wear a swimsuit in a competition for talent is an obvious trigger to consider their bodies rather than their minds. There is no such show to guarantee that the competition will be about talents, instead of looks. In other situations too, more care is needed to ensure that women can display their talents without having to worry about the way they look. Random abuse, exploitation, rapes and honour killing in India shows how much we really respect the woman.
Girls believe that motherhood still disadvantages women in the workplace, and almost half of those aged 11 to 21 worry that having children will negatively affect their career. A similar number think that employers at least to some extent prefer to employ men to women. Half worry about the pay gap between men and women (50%), rising to 60 per cent among 16- to 21-year-olds. The levels of criticism female celebrities and women in the public eye in the media have also affected young women’s aspirations to be in similar positions one day. The way women are criticized for how they look on TV has put them off every wanting to be in a position where they’d appear on TV themselves.
Women should demand to be judged based on their intelligence, their character, their competence, their skills, their talents, their intellectual acuity, their capabilities, and their qualifications. They should insist that they should be respected for their brains and not for their bodies. After so many years of progress, there are still women out there who judge and evaluate each other first and foremost based on appearance. They make instantaneous character assumptions based on external characteristics. They carry the same bias that they have been fighting against, bypassing substance for style; but somehow, because they are women, that makes it okay. It is most certainly not okay. If it were just men who endorsed these biases, then it would be annoying, but somehow easier to accept. However, there are far too many empowered, independent, strong females who guzzle the “beauty ideal” Kool-Aid and who subscribe to the belief that physical attractiveness is a woman’s strongest asset, totally sabotaging efforts to convince society that women should be valued for who they are, and not for what they look like. I would guess that many of these women call themselves champions of the feminist cause and have no clue that they are anything but champs.
Meanwhile, in the digital and social media era looking beautiful is an utmost priority for men and women both. To make their pictures most beautiful there are many mobile apps that can give the look that they want. But this is not enough. The greed to upgrade or look glamorous leads people to scams but that is ok with them. We are all aware that there is a significant emphasis on appearance in the world that we live in. We have not only let society continue to correlate a woman’s value to the size of her body, but we, women, reinforce that code, which is so adversative to our desire to be assessed based on our intellect, our character, and our abilities. It’s disheartening. Well! Until we do not shed these double standards and learn to be human that the men and women, there is no point in celebrating woman’s day or man’s day.

Telangana rape case: Quick fast track death

Hyderbad Rapist Encounter Quick Justice, Telangana Police, Telangana Rape, Justice to Priyanka Reddy,Hyderbad Rapist Encounter, Rapist,#JusticeToPriyankaReddy, PriyankaReddy, telangana encounter, encounter, hyderabad encounter,v c sajjanarAll four men accused in the gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian in Telangana were killed in a Police encounter at Chatanpally and the testing time is over. The young woman’s rape and murder had triggered shock and horror across the nation after her body, badly burnt, was found last week near Hyderabad. As a common citizen, I am feeling happy that this was the end we all wanted for them. But this end was supposed to be through the legal system. Justice should have delivered to the victim through proper channels but it will take its own time. The judiciary has been running from pillar to post for the last 7 years to get Nirbhaya’s culprits hanged to death. Justice has been delivered at the hands of police and in the name of encounter. Let the rapists learn a lesson now.

It could have been better had these four accused were chained up and paraded on streets of Hyderabad and then given severe punishment. However, it is good that they had finally met with their own sad fate.   Purists’ will question whether it is authentic. ‘Pragmatists’ will ‘look the other way’ contending that it is OK in exceptional cases where the crime is as clear as daylight. This is likely to be the majority opinion. But media, for obvious reasons, cannot approve it instantly without acceptable evidence, which is also right.

It was a heinous crime which requires severe punishment to the culprit of this crime. The agitation which was taking Pan India shape will die down immediately. Police does not need to go through the arduous task of collecting evidences, make a case and present in a court of law. Political masters also got relief, and victims family too. What a easy solution to a difficult problem. It may also bring peace to all those who were demanding death to culprits.

The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s rule is different from others. He had handled the RTC strike with iron hand. The judicial process is very slow and people are losing faith in the justice. In the Delhi Nirbhaya case justice is yet to be delivered. Hope that one day our country judiciary will also be fast in delivering and executing the judgement that common people have faith in judicial system to serve justice than to rely on encounters to provide speedy justice.

Justice would have been done only when the women are able to walk the streets without fear of mental and physical humiliation. Rape is a form of humiliation, showing that I can do anything to you and don’t care for how you feel about it. It is a sad reflection on how, despite the cultural celebration of women in this country as mothers and sisters, the male dominion does not perceive them so when they are in public spaces. We must hang our heads low and atone for our omissions as a society.

When the CM of the state directed that the judicial processes of the case be expedited through a fast track court, and, further, when the Hyderabad Police decided to constitute a team of 50 officers to conduct a thorough investigation of the case, it sounds impossible that the accused would have had any chance to either snatch the weapons of the policemen who were taking them to the crime scene to reconstruct the event. The four should have been produced before court of law to award them the punishment they deserved. The supremacy of the law – even if in the end in this case, would have been death for the quartet – should not have been devalued.

Letters to the Editor: 08 December, 2019

letters to the editor, afternoon voice,Kudos to Telangana police for quick justice in Disha rape-murder case

It was indeed heartening to witness school-girls from school-buses cheering Telangana Police for quick justice done in recent horrible rape-cum-murder case of veterinary doctor in Hyderabad. BSP supremo Mayawati deserves all compliments for echoing public-voice in demanding UP Police to follow Telangana Police hinting at recent Unnao episode where rape-accused released on bail tried to burn alive the rape-victim.

Chief Justice of India should order probe in role of magistrate, police-lawyers and police-persons involved in recent Unnao-case where rape-accused were given easy bail to make them burn alive the rape-victim who is now battling for life. All these persons should be suspended till probe is over with strict-most action and punishment, to be a lesson for others.

Our poor-most justice-delivery-system is responsible when time may not be far when people may start taking law in hands when rapist Akku Yadav was lynched to death by about 200 women on August 13, 2004 outside court-room in Nagpur because of poor justice-delivery-system which grants easy bail to rapists.

President of India should wake up to immediately reject mercy-petitions of infamous Nirbhaya rape-accused so that countrymen may celebrate their hanging on coming 16th December, the date on which heinous crime was committed.

Humanity in our country has gone for toss

Newborn flung down from a Kandivali high-rise comes as a shock. Humanity in our country has gone for a toss and killing of newborn babies is a heinous crime more cruel than even rapes and molestations. Unplanned babies could be the reason for such action and family planning methods should be popularised so that crimes of such nature are reduced. Security at high-rise buildings too should be beefed up so that such actions come under the scanner through CCTV cameras.

Education too is the need of the hour and citizens should be god fearing as taking human life is criminality against the Almighty. The shocking incident needs to be investigated fully so that the guilty can be punished appropriately.

Congress should not oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill

Union Cabinet deserves all compliments for approving Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 which allows people of all religions other than Muslims, easy access to Indian citizenship. Everyone knows that Hindus who are mainly limited to India and Nepal are facing worst torture in Islamic nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh as minority-community there are forcing them to flee to India. Same is situation with Christians in Pakistan. Central government has thus played a perfect secular role in opening its doors for people of all religions facing torture in Islamic countries.

Congress which was instrumental in creating divided India on basis of religion has no right in opposing the Bill in its usual policy of pseudo-secularism. How can people of Muslim community from countries like Myanmar can be allowed to enter India when that country has itself become victim of Rohingya Muslims. Likewise Bangladeshi Muslims came to India only because of better living here, but are manly involved in anti-social and criminal activities. As such all accounts, decision of Union Cabinet is based on practical aspects. Indian Muslims are enjoying equal rights and better livelihood here, being the proof that Muslims from neighboring Islamic nations Pakistan and Bangladesh want to come to India, which must be stopped.

Massive fire breaks out at luggage factory in Delhi, 43 killed

Delhi Fire, Delhi, Delhi Fire AccidentAt least 43 people were killed in a massive fire that took place at Aanaj Mandi area on Rani Jhansi Road in Delhi early on Sunday. According to the last figure, over 56 people have been injured in the fire. As per sources the incident took place 5:22 AM and the after that the locals of the area informed the fire brigade and Delhi police.  At least 15 fire vehicles and 30 fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site to douse the blaze.

Deputy fire chief officer Sunil Choudhary said,  “A fire broke out in a 600 sq feet plot. It was very dark inside. It is a factory where school bags, bottles and other materials were kept. The fire has now been doused, most of the people affected were labourers sleeping inside when the fire broke out.”

“The owner of the building has been arrested,” he added.

On Delhi fire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “The fire in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road is extremely horrific. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Wishing the injured a quick recovery. Authorities are providing all possible assistance at the site of the tragedy.”

The fire official said the rescued people were admitted to RML Hospital and LNJP and Hindu Rao Hospital.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Very very tragic news. Rescue operations going on. Firemen doing their best. Injured are being taken to hospitals.”

There is nothing in the world that can give justice to Rape Victim

The injustice that ended the life of Priyanka Reddy, a young educated girl who had her whole life ahead is intolerable. There is nothing in the world that can give justice to her even if the entire police stations are fired; the rapists are encountered because nothing can bring her back. She was not spared from appeasement even in her death. People were angry attacking the government and police department, as they do after every rape case, but for a change all the four accused in the rape and murder of veterinarian in Telangana were killed in an encounter with the police. The accused were taken to the spot for recreation of the crime scene; however, they tried to flee from the spot following which the police had to open fire at them. They were shot dead after they tried to escape. This is all the police’s version. No law in India sanctions encounter of accused by the police. Too many among those who are reacting to this killing of gangrape and murder accused, who were under police custody, the police action was “justice” being delivered. People were seen shouting slogans in praise of the Hyderabad Police. Flowers were showered on police personnel. People were seen celebrating the police action in other parts of the country, including the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai.

Social media has split reactions but overall everyone was happy with the end. Some politicians too have justified the police action. Mayawati, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said the police action is “commendable” and that justice has been done. She went on to say, “Had police taken a similar tough action in the case of Nirbhaya gangrape, justice could have been delivered early. Nirbhaya was gangraped and fatally injured by six persons in a moving bus at Delhi in December 2012. Four of the accused were sentenced to death. But the death sentence has not yet been executed. The mercy petition of one of the four convicts on the death row was rejected by the Delhi government on December 1 this year. The delay has led to many questioning the justice delivery system. Parents of Nirbhaya a paramedic student expressed frustration over their “unending wait for justice”. The Supreme Court made it “mandatory for a magistrate to investigate so-called encounter deaths to ensure that investigations into police encounters are carried out effectively and independently to ensure that probe into police encounters are carried out effectively and independently”. There is no law that sanctions killing of an accused of any crime, including that of rape and murder. This forms the basis for a robust judicial system. The police are an investigating agency and not entitled to adjudicate cases pronouncing verdict on someone’s criminal culpability. Declaring someone guilty falls under the jurisdiction of the courts. This is a check on police’s action lest they pick up and implicate people to bring closure to the case.

Police arrested four persons saying they committed the crime on the night of November 26-27. For those not aware of what happened in Hyderabad, a 27-year-old veterinarian was waylaid, gangraped, smothered to death and burnt. Police said the four persons arrested committed the crime. The case was still under investigation. The chargesheet had not been filed. Trial had not begun. The court was yet to hear the accused and the prosecution. It was not yet proven that the accused who were shot dead were the actual culprits of the gangrape and murder. And, even if they were the culprits, the police were not authorised to take their lives. It is also not clear if the accused were capable by means of being armed or something similar to pose threat to life or lives of the policemen who took them for recreating the crime scene. For, only in the case of self-defence, causing death is not a crime under the Indian Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code. As a benefit of a doubt, it is also not yet clear whether the police used all means to capture the accused when they allegedly tried to escape. However, there are certain provisions that have been cited to partially allow a police person to cause death of an accused.

Section 96 of the IPC says nothing is an offence which is done in the exercise of the right of private defence. IPC Section 100 lists outs situations under the right to private defence. It includes a scenario where the assaulter has a reasonable apprehension that she would be grievously hurt or killed if she does not act in self-defence. Then there is CrPC Section 46 that says if an accused or suspect forcibly resists the endeavour to arrest him or attempts to evade the arrest, the police may use “all means necessary to effect the arrest”. It also states that nothing gives police “a right to cause a death of a person who is not accused of an offence punishable with death or with imprisonment for life.” This has been interpreted at times to mean that in cases where offence is punishable with death or life imprisonment, extra-judicial killing or encounter as they are popularly referred to in India is an option available to the police. But the Supreme Court in the 2015 case laid out a detailed 16-point guideline to judge every extra-judicial killing. The Hyderabad encounter is one such case of extra-judicial killing that ought to come to clean passing the Supreme Court guidelines scrutinised by a trained jurist to restore people’s faith in the rule of law that declares right to life is fundamental and asserts a life can be taken by the State only in accordance with the law.

A girl gets smothered, raped and burnt just because she was ALONE. Let that sink in. Just imagine what she must be going through those moments? What she must be thinking? You don’t want to imagine, right? What was her fault? Her only fault is simply being born in this country. A country where women are told to be safe but men are not asked to behave. Women are told to not wear revealing clothes, not to go out when it’s late in a country where victims don’t get speedy justice. Well! How many more cases do we need to put a stop to this? We all know she was not the FIRST one and she cannot be the LAST as well. But the encounter of the rapist was something solacing and new to heal the wounds.

#HyderabadRapeAndMurder – Justice in its own way, Victims see ray of hope

Hyderbad Rapist Encounter, Rapist,#JusticeToPriyankaReddy, PriyankaReddy, telangana encounter, encounter, hyderabad encounter,v c sajjanarThe four men accused of raping and killing a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad were shot dead in an encounter in the wee hours of Friday. According to the report, the four accused were taken to Cherlapally central prison to Chatanpally, which is 50 km from Hyderabad, to recreate the crime scene.

As per sources, an accused suddenly snatched the weapon of one of the policemen and tried to escape. The cops say that in ‘self-defence’, the accused were shot dead. A senior police officer told to the news agency that, “They (accused) snatched weapons from police and fired on police and tried to escape… police fired in retaliation in which the four accused died.”

Reportedly the encounter took place at National Highway 44 around 3.30 am. An IPS officer of 1996 batch, Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has confirmed the news about the ‘encounter’. Sajjanar who also popularly known as encounter specialist as he had similarly shot three accused of an acid attack case in the year 2008.

Former police of Uttar Pradesh on the condition of anonymity spoke to AV and said, “In Uttar Pradesh, the arrest and conviction are not much possible, the reason being all those rapists are either relatives of some or other Baahubalis (powerful people) or they are connected to some political parties. And reportedly these kinds of acts are not done by the common public in Uttar Pradesh. These are just ego issues or some pride issue that’s why most of the rapists are having Baahubali background. They are crowd pullers, hooligans who support the political rallies and political party vandalization. So no politician wants to take an enmity with them and that is the reason police are instructed to ignore such cases as long as they can.”

“That’s why conviction rates are very low,” he added.

As soon as the news came out, #JusticeForDisha #EncounterNight #HyderabadEncounter started trending on social media. The reason behind creating Justice for Disha hashtag is because as per Supreme Court guidelines, a rape victim’s identity or name should not be disclosed or used for reporting. Disha is the name given to the victim by the police. This is a second police encounter in Telangana where accused of a crime against women were shot dead while trying to escape.

When we spoke to Jaya Bachchan, she refused to talk on this encounter but said “It’s time to get the justice delivered; unless and until such brutal crimes can’t be controlled.”

On November 28, a 26-year-old veterinary doctor was found in an underpass on Hyderabad outskirts. Reportedly, the woman was smothered, gang-raped and then burnt by four accused on November 27 late night. After that Cyberabad police started their investigation with the help of CCTV footages which were installed near the highway and the locals of the area. As per police investigation, the accused decided the disturbing, spine-chilling crime the moment they saw the doctor parking her red scooter near the toll plaza. Later two men approached the woman, claiming that her bike was punctured and offered her to get it repaired. The two accused took the bike and returned after some time claiming that the nearby tyre repair shop was closed and later on they took her to another shop by saying to help her. The police investigation also revealed that the accused forcibly offered liquor to the woman and made her unconscious and following which they gang-raped and set the woman ablaze.

Senior Advocate Ujjwal Nikam said, “In Hyderabad encounter case I suspect the action and the intent of Hyderabad Police. This encounter has been done to divert people’s attention from truth. I am really confused to see what people are celebrating, it’s encounter of guilty? Or accused.”

The petrol pump attendant called the police and informed them around 12.30 am on Friday, that two the accused had come to buy petrol on the red scooter. But, he refused to give them petrol. Later police approached all the mechanics about the red scooter. However one of them told police that the two people arrived on a red scooter and asked for tyre alignment and air check. These two pieces of information are helped the police to arrest the accused and following which police held them. The arrested accuseds were identified as Mohammad Ali alias Mohammad Arif, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen Kumar and Chintakunta Chenna Keshavulu.

Subsequently, the news flashes everywhere the father of the victim told to the news agency, “It has been 10 days to the day my daughter died. I express my gratitude towards the police and the government for this. My daughter’s soul must be at peace now.”

Niti (name changed) a rape victim of Delhi said to AV, “Police station is another hell here, all cases are not high profile cases. The Nirbhaya rape case grabbed national attention but there are more brutal rapes have occurred after that, however, no one spoke for them. No marches or no noises.”

After this incident the Uttar Bharat and Delhi rape victims are seeking for same encounter for rapists. Because of this incident it is expected that justice will be delivered to the victim.

A rape victim of Uttar Pradesh told AV, “I am expecting for justice since so many years. Forget about the justice, rapists are roaming free and police are showing them absconding. Finally, I had to shift to another state for my survival also my parents are under constant threat. I wish UP police too have guts like Hyderabad police, then only the crime against women will come down.”

How did the Bangladeshi jihadists get ISIS cap?

Bangladeshi Jihadists ,ISIS Cap, ISIS, Jihadists, Bangladeshi, Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh, ISIS Terrior Group, TerroristsIs there any existence of the Islamic State in Bangladesh? If this question is placed with the authorities, they will outright deny. All through they have been holding “neo-JMB” responsible for recent terrorist attacks in the country, including the gruesome attack on Holey Artisan café in Dhaka. It may be mentioned here that, on the evening of 1 July 2016, five gunmen burst into the Holey Artisan cafe in the upmarket Gulshan district of Dhaka.

Armed with assault rifles and machetes, the young attackers opened fire and took diners hostage at gun-point.

The attack saw victims inside the cafe, most of whom were foreigners, shot or hacked to death by the militants.

To my understanding, no jihadist or militancy outfit is named as “neo” anywhere in the world. In fact, there is no existence of the so-called neo-JMB even in Bangladesh. Either they are Jamaatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) or Islamic State (ISIS) chapter in Bangladesh. For the sake of effectively combating militancy, we need to, first of all, come out of confusion and accept the reality. Of course, some vested interest groups are eagerly seeing the existence of ISIS in Bangladesh. In recent days some ridiculous names have also been invented by some security agencies in the region, claiming their existence in Bangladesh, although such allegations or assumptions are totally baseless.

For the past few years, especially since December 2018, some notorious elements such as Jamaat-e-Islami are making frantic bids in proving the existence of Al Qaeda or ISIS in Bangladesh with the ulterior agenda of putting the government into discomfort. A prominent English daily with a dubious past is particularly enthusiastic in proving the existence of Ansar Al Islam (AAI) or Islamic State in this country. The agenda of that newspaper is no different than that of Jamaat. They want to destabilize the country and somehow create an atmosphere of putting the current government under international scrutiny and even pressure. Thanks to our law enforcement and security agencies for effectively combating jihadist elements and militancy groups in Bangladesh. To my own understanding, the existence of jihadist outfits has been mostly destroyed and even eliminated in the country because of the firm determination of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and particular contributions of the security and intelligence agencies. But of course, jihadist activities are still continuing and growing inside the prisons. This is not only happening in Bangladesh but most of the nations in the world, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, etc., also are expressing concerns at the growth of militancy inside prisons.

Recently, something extremely mysterious happened immediately after the pronouncement of the verdict into the case of the jihadist attack on the Holey Artisan café in Dhaka’s posh Gulshan area in 2016. Immediately after the trial court handed down the death penalty to each of the jihadists, they began chanting “Allahu Akbar” slogan and one of them named Rakibul Hasan Regan put on a black cap with the image of Islamic State (ISIS) flag. Later another jihadist was also seen wearing a similar cap. Following this incident, law enforcing and intelligence agencies have carefully scrutinized the video footage of the court premises and it was clear that these caps were not passed to those jihadists during their stay in the court premises. Instead, it was clearly proved that the caps were manufactured inside the prison.

Commenting on this incident, the jailor of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj told reporters, “We handed them over to the representative of detectives and SB [Special Branch] of police after searching them. We have all the video footage which shows that they left without having any such caps on them”. Undoubtedly, this statement of the jailor is a blatant lie. Prison authorities never seize any prayer cap from the prisoners during the search. Moreover, there are a series of allegations of the prisoners including the jihadists using mobile phones inside the prisons on a regular basis.

Jailor Mahbub also made another false statement saying there was no scope of collecting the cap [with ISIS logo] from within the prison. Rather, the fact is, similar caps can always be manufactured inside the prison from the tailoring section or by paying some cash to few convicted prisoners [especially those convict members of former BDR], who have been doing embroidery works and stitching of caps in exchange of cash or cigarette.

Though Islamic State members do not use any such cap, those convicted jihadists possibly used the cap to pronounce their identities as the “fighters” of ISIS. Immediately after the gruesome attack on the Holey Artisan café, Islamic State released several video footage claiming responsibility of this attack, which had killed several individuals, including foreigners and locals.

Although the matter of ISIS cap in the court is under investigation, there is possibly no room of having any doubt about this cap not being passed to the Holey Artisan attackers by anyone in the court premises. Instead, it certainly was manufactured inside the prison. The second point is, the prison authorities are particularly reluctant about the issue of dubious activities of the imprisoned jihadists in most of the jails in Bangladesh. The Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj or Kashimpur Central Jails (Part 1, 2 and 4 (high security) are no exception. In these jails, jihadists enjoy maximum facilities by bribing the authorities. Even they use mobile phones and communicate with their counterparts outside the prison, including some jihadists in India and Pakistan. Jailors are fully aware of these illegal activities but they remain mum just because of the monthly payment they receive from the jihadist outfits.

Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj is particularly a safe haven of the jihadists. According to specific information, jihadists either hire mobile phones from the prison guards or imprisoned top-terrorists. They pay a certain amount as daily or weekly rent for each of the phone sets. Even some prison guards work as the messengers of these jihadists in exchange for money.

Holey Artisan café attackers wearing an Islamic cap with the ISIS logo or their chanting of “Allahu Akbar” slogan inside the courtroom is a matter of grave concern. It had clearly exhibited the degree of the audacity of these beasts. For the sake of effectively combating radical Islam and militancy, the government should immediately take the decision of building a separate prison only for the jihadists with fool-proof security arrangements. Tough punitive measures should be initiated against the prison officials and guards in case of their connections or relations with the jihadists. The case of Islamic cap with ISIS logo in the court premises should be thoroughly investigated by the country’s intelligence agencies forthwith.

Salman isn’t affected by his stardom, says Sonakshi

Sonakshi Sinha , Salman KhanSonakshi Sinha says while working on the third installment of “Dabangg” franchise, she observed and learned how superstar Salman Khan never let his stardom go to his head.

Reflecting on her journey in Bollywood, which started with “Dabangg” in 2010, Sonakshi said one key takeaway for her after working with Salman was how to treat success with humility.

“I learnt a lot of things by just observing him which I eventually followed even in my journey. The very fact that he doesn’t take his super stardom so seriously. He takes it in his stride, he isn’t affected by it.

“He’s the kind of a guy who’d be living in the biggest of the hotels, fanciest of the rooms but would sleep on the couch,” Sonakshi told an agency.

The actor said Salman is incredibly grounded, something everyone wanting to have a long career should learn from.

“If he had let it go to his head, he wouldn’t have made a career like the one he has. He works with the same gusto he did twenty-five years back. These are the things you’ve to learn and follow if you want to have a career as long as him.”

“He never fails to surprise you. He only competes with himself. He wants to do better than what he did yesterday. What he manages to do all the time, so amazingly, it’s something to be inspired by.”

After “Dabangg”, Sonakshi went on to work in films like “Lootera”, “Rowdy Rathore” and most recently, “Mission Mangal”.

Directed by Prabhudeva, “Dabangg 3” also features Saiee Manjrekar and is scheduled to be release on December 20.
