Pakistan’s predicament on Pathankot

Mixed signals emerged from the highest echelons of the Indian government, even as reports revealed that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered a joint investigation team, comprising officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau and Military Intelligence to look into the leads provided by India on the Pathankot airbase attack. Pakistani authorities carried out raids in Gujranwala, Jhelum and Bahwalpur. Among the places raided was the house of Ashfaq Ahmed, brother-in-law of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, named as one of the handlers of the terrorists. According to the Pakistani newspaper Tribune, the raids were being carried out under the supervision of the Joint Investigation Team. Just by making token arrest and by rushing up initial probe report, the Pakistan could not satisfy the Indian Government. It is reliably learnt that the swift action is just to save FS talks and nothing else. Pakistan’s predicament on Pathankot attack by terrorists is more or less the same like the 26/11 attack on Mumbai and the so called investigations is just one more show by Pakistani Government.
