Celebrities should practice what they preach and superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s name along with his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan figuring in the Panama accounts for tax evasion comes as a shock. Finance Ministers statement saying ‘there are no holy cows for us’ sounds bells of optimism and one can look forward to an fair trial to go into the modus operandi to unearth the black money scam if any.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves all accolades in taking this ‘Black Money’ issue seriously along with willful defaulters who have fled and staying abroad but he still needs to create a system that is full proof to plug the leak at the base itself so that no ‘black money’ is generated in future. A panel of Income Tax and RBI officials formed by the government to probe offshore trail seems to be a positive move as a beginning has been made to track unaccounted money stashed abroad.
However, nobody should be labelled guilty until proven and one hopes the Bachchan’s would play with a straight bat and prove their innocence if they really have not broken any laws or punished if found guilty!
