Pay heed to pending irrigation projects

Maharashtra is lagging behind in the completion of irrigation projects and it is sad story as the State is reeling under acute water shortage. Nearly 400 pending projects are there to be completed on priority basis and the Central Government had allotted a sum of Rs.9187 crore to make up the projects to complete the same without wasting much time. The rivers in the state should be connected with each other to face such a famine like situation. After all when there is heavy rain, then the water is flowing towards sea. Water is also wasted due to leakages. People don’t shut the taps while going out of the flats. Irrigation should be done on war footing basis to keep the water level at the desired level. However, there is a welcome news that a deadline has been set up to overcome the situation in drought hit talukas. It is now or never situation.
