Scam time

The nephews of top political party leaders are in the line of fire. Earlier it was Bhujpal’s family and now it is the turn of Ajit Pawar. The State Government has ordered an inquiry into 189 small irrigation projects awarded when Pawar was Irrigation minister. The tendering processes of these projects were allegedly riddled with irregularities and also there were charges of nepotism of favours being granted to certain contractors. Water expert Purandare had filed a PIL in 2014 seeking an inquiry into the irregularities in the tendering process of small irrigation projects and payoffs from contractors. While hearing the case the Aurangabad bench had ordered a preliminary inquiry into the irregularities in the Kikvi and Kanchanpur irrigation projects.  The earlier Congress regime has given scope for so many corruption charges leading to the loss to the ex-chequer and bad name to Congress-NCP coalition. It is time to unearth scams in the state of Maharashtra.
