Shift IPL matches out of Maharashtra

High court has rightly suggested that IPL matches should be shifted out of water starved Maharashtra. Wastage of water for IPL is Crime, AV dated April 7) .Water scarcity is an abstract concept to many and a stark reality for others. Water is the foundation of life. Clean, safe drinking water is scarce. Water as a resource is confronted with multiple realities in India today. The idea of clean drinking water from being supplied from tap water is a distant dream. Looking to the water crisis, IPL matches should not be played in the state as the preparation of grounds requires huge amount of water. We face an energy crisis but we can work on alternative and renewable energy resources. When it comes to the water crisis, there is no alternative for it. Why water should be “wasted” on hosting IPL 2016 matches when the state is facing one of its worst-ever droughts. At this situation, farmers need huge amount of water. All political parties should come together for overcoming this crisis.
