ness-priety-gangsterThe fight between Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia has taken a new turn as his father Nulsi Wadia has received a threatening call from the underworld to stop interfering in the actress’s case. Sources say the office of Ness Wadia’s father Nusli Wadia, the Wadia Group head, received two calls; one of them to the mobile phone of a personal secretary who later received an SMS, reportedly from an Iran number. Thus a question which arises is whether the underworld has started interfering in this matter. There were already reports of the alleged nexus between underworld and Bollywood.

The Wadia Group has filed a complaint with the NM Joshi Marg police station where it says the alleged threat call was made on Monday evening. According to reports, the calls were made from five to six different numbers and no extortion demands have been made.

The case has now been transferred to Mumbai Crime Branch’s anti-extortion cell. Police has not disclosed the name of the secretary.

“A secretary to industrialist Nusli Wadia, approached N M Joshi Marg police station saying a “threat” message was received on a mobile phone from somebody who claimed he was fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari”, Deputy Police Commissioner Mahesh Patil said.

Police have recorded Nusli Wadia’s personal secretary’s statements in connection with the case. It is being reported that Pujari had made several calls to Wadia’s PA which went unanswered. Later in the day, around 8 pm, an SMS was sent asking the senior Wadia to remain aloof from the Preity Zinta case or else his business interests would be harmed.

Patil however, did not clarify if the phone belonged to the secretary or one of the members of the Wadia family.
The Wadia family has been grabbing headlines over the last few days after Nusli’s elder son Ness Wadia was accused by his former girlfriend and actress Preity Zinta of abuse and molestation during an IPL cricket match on May 30. Ness has denied the charge.

Ness and Preity had broken off their courtship a few years back but continued to share business interest and co-owned IPL team Kings XI Punjab. No spokesman for the Wadia group could be immediately contacted for comments.
The police are currently investigating the case. Currently, the identity of the persons who made the threat calls is not known. Police are yet to ascertain whether the threats made to Nusli Wadia are connected to the molestation case or not. The police are also waiting for Ms Zinta to return to the country and give a statement on her own complaint. They have sought footage from a private channel that aired the IPL match.

“There are more than 220 cameras. We have gone through footage we thought which would capture the incident. We are still going through the footage. Sony has 19 cameras. We have asked for that footage as well,” said Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria.

The police have written to officials of IPL and the Indian cricket board for a list of spectators at the pavilion where Ms Zinta and Mr Wadia were sitting.

Reports say that there is a chance of Wadia withdrawing the complaint registered.
