BMC not monsoon ready

Mumbai city should not face such a tricky situation as 26/7 and our disaster management should be in place to face any challenge during
monsoon rains. We get rains for four months in a year and it is a good source of water for us. It is time to go as per nature and face the fury of floods through proper planning. BMC claims about rain readiness is only for paper and more spade work needs to be done. Mumbai faced flash floods in the past also due to high tide and heavy rains. 26/7 tragedy still hovers around in our mind. We should be well prepared to face any calamity and approach the problem in the right way. The nature’s fury should be countered by proper disaster management readiness. Time and again we talk about disaster management but forget once the calamity is over. Mumbai needs proper cleaning of drainage system before the onset of monsoon and the use of plastic
should be prevented totally so that it will not get stuck up in drainage system and cause flooding in city roads. Instead of keeping the manhole open during rains we should clean up drainage. We can achieve a better man management during rains, if BMC officials keep a close watch and have a egular follow up. It is a matter of great pride to keep the commercial capital geared up in all aspects  and rain ready by end of this month or by the first week of June 2016.
