BMC will get itself exposed in the first rains to hit the city as there is not a single ward left in the entire city where roads are not dug up for one reason or the other and completion at many places would not happen even after the end of monsoon season. Not surprising as this has become a routine annual affair and not an exception which shocks ‘Mumbaikars’ for whom life is getting worse year after year. Corruption rules the roost in our system and these delaying tactics are to extract more money as contractors and leaders would ask for hefty sums to complete drainage and other uncompleted work in the name of ‘over-time’ sighting urgency to loot tax-payers money. BMC should be headed by a corporate CEO so that this richest civic body of our country is run in a professional manner where there is accountability and corporate ethics. The work be it civil or other contracts should be assigned to private corporate bodies for accountability and professionalism so that we are spared of hardships not just in monsoons but all time round the year. The area that needs special attention is the over-crowded business center of Masjid Bunder which is totally dug up and people facing hardship for several days now and things could get worse during the monsoons!
