Boiler explosion: Death toll goes up to 3 in Maha

The death toll in the boiler explosion at an industrial scrap godown in Mumbra near here has gone up to three, with two more persons succumbing to their injuries, police said on Sunday.

While one of the two persons died last night, the other succumbed to his 100 per cent burns in the early hours today at the Thane Civil hospital, they said.

The deceased have been identified as – Fulchand Prasad (35) and NavmanYadav (32).

One person was yesterday killed in the mishap.

Another person who also sustained 100 per cent burns in the explosion is battling for life, doctors at the civil hospital said.

The explosion took place yesterday afternoon at a unit in Gothegar on the Mumbra-Panvel Road, Regional Disaster Management Control (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation had earlier said.

The ShilDiaghar police have booked the owner of the godown, identified as Ajmal, under section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC.
