Congratulations to Deepa Malik for winning a Silver medal for our country at the Paralympics in Rio. She is also the first woman to win a medal for our country at such games and this truly is a proud moment for India. Even cancer and 31 surgeries for spinal tumour could not prevent Deepa from performing such an incredible fete and we salute this brave lady for her efforts.

Cancer is a dreadful disease which can frighten the best of human beings and here is a lady who took inspiration from her fight against the disease to come out strongly and win a medal against international competition at Paralympics. Disability should never be considered a hurdle and even normal human beings should take a leaf out of Deepa Malik and her tribe to never give up dreams but achieve one’s goals inspite of hardships. The government of India should honour all athletes who have won medal at Paralympics in the same manner as they do for Olympic medalists and also encourage them in whatever way possible to help India win many more medals in future as well!
