Free voice calling for lifetime from Reliance Jio signals doomsday for most Telecom companies in business. India’s top industry tycoon Mukesh Ambani has stunned one and all with his aggressive tariff plan for his telecom business Jio where calls would be free and internet data at almost one tenth of the prevailing rates in the country. Ambani has earmarked 20 billion dollars for this business which works to over 1.25 lac crores of investment which is huge and mammoth. Not sure about the sustainability of such business under the cheap tariff but citizens are happy as communication which is the lifeline of not just business but every aspect of life becomes affordable at dirt cheap prices.
However, let us all keep our fingers crossed and hope we get what has been promised and the announcement is not just to kill competition but an business model that would be sustainable on quantum growth without compromising on quality of the services. Jio name and tagline which means ‘live life’ should change the dynamics of how we live in the future and everybody is looking forward to the revolution!
