Mahatma Gandhi’s path of truth and non-violence is all the more relevant today when the whole world is on the brink of a nuclear war.  Gandhiji’s policy of non-communalism and secularism is the strength of the Indian republic today. Gandhiji is called as ‘Mahatma’ because of his great works and greatness all through his life. He started the non-violence independence movement to fight against the injustice of the Britishers in India. He was insulted many times but he continued his non-violent struggle for the independence of India.  As a great freedom fighter, Gandhiji was arrested many times but he continued to fight against the British rule for the justice of Indians. He was a great believer in non-violence and unity of the people of all religions which he followed all through his struggle for independence. He was assassinated on January 30, 1948 by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu activist.
