Outcry over the EPF tax put the NDA government on the dock and they were forced to accept a roll back as we have seen in the past during UPA government as well. However, the Congress party gloats as a success as BJP rolled back its controversial budget proposal to tax the employee’s provident fund at the time of withdrawal. Roll back has become the order of the day and just like grocers, the prices are hiked only to be lowered to bring business for them. NDA government learnt this art from Congress party’s rule for over a decade and now faces such a ticklish situation. After all people should be benefitted by the benevolence of the union Government and the budget is for the people, by the people and of the people. EPF roll back has proved as an energiser for the defeated Congress side.
