India should develop its sports infrastructure

There is immense competition at Rio Olympic Games and medal winners train for over a decade to give an winning performance while it was ‘so near but yet so far’ for the Indians when it came to podium position. We have the talent but the facilities and encouragement is missing. A nation of over a billion population does not spend even quarter of a percent of its GDP on sports and that tells you the whole story. We have the Amnesty scheme currently under way and more and more people would declare their undisclosed Black money. If this money is spent on developing sports infrastructure then India will definitely win more medals. Hope our Prime Minister and Finance Minister reads this and have some encouraging news for Indian sports in this regard soon. Also, our mindset too needs to change and our focus should shift from cricket to other sports as well.
