Mumbai biker ruptures cop’s eardrum

A traffic cop has been left with a ruptured eardrum after he was allegedly assaulted by a biker at Andheri (E) on Monday evening, reports V Narayan.

The biker, Paresh Gavkar (25), was angry that the constable, V T Sanjeev, had issued him an e-challan for riding without helmet.

A medical test has confirmed the injury to the 52-yearold cop’s ear. The biker, who did not even have a valid licence, has been arrested.

Sanjeev said he had clicked a photo of the helmetless rider on Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road around 5. 45pm and issued a challan.

“The bikerhalted and asked if I had taken his photo. When I showed him the photo and the e-challan, he started assaulting me,” the constable said.
